Now thats Entertaining TEST cricket where there's an EVEN battle between bat and ball UNLIKE the Boring Garbage cricket that the Meb and Sydney Tests have produced on Lifeless Dead Pitches.
I love my cricket but ya stick the Aussie Tests where the sun doesn't shine if they continue down the path of playing on these concrete slabs.

100% agree with JJ. Australia continually produces dud wickets that dont offer anything other then adelaide. Watching the SA v india test was great, sure india bowled some crap at times but it offered just enough to help the bowlers. In australia if you dont bowl 145 plus your essentially screwed cos there is no swing or seam. It is a testament to the aussies bowlers though as they are terrific.

Totally agree with you Jackpot Jim - the media carried on about the lifeless MCG test pitch & the SCG is probably worse. The batsmen are having no
problems at all esp if Kwahaja can get a hundred on it without any problems!
They need to make a pitch that has some life in it for bowlers not these tracks that are as flat as King William Street

Not definitive but reads to me that it is the on field umpires decision

LBW decision

3rd umpire follows following steps

Cheaks the front foot of the bowler,if it is a legal delivery then
Cheaks in slow motion if there is a bat involed i.e. if he nicked it or not
If no bat involved then umpire just confirms that with ultra edge
Then he looks at the ball tracking
If the ball pitched outside leg then its not out
If the ball pitched outside off then on field umpire's decision stays
If the ball pitched in line and more than 50% of the ball is hitting the wickets then its OUT
And if the ball is pitched in line and less than 50% of the ball is hitting wickets then ON FIELD UMPIRE'S DECISION STAYS
And if the ball completely misses the wickets then its NOT OUT

Should have read further: Its the thirds

Update:

There is also a new rule is introduced that if the batsman offers no shot and if he us given NOT OUT by field umpire and fielding team reviews it. And in this case if the impact is outside off then also Third umpire CAN make on field umpire to change his decision to OUT

Thats assuming the 3rd umpire deemed he wasnt playing a shot. Hit outside off.
Who makes that call, the 3rd umpire or the one on the ground?

Good question

Field umpire gave it not out so I would think it would be their call on whether the batsman played a shot

Commentators just spoke abouty it, they didnt know either

I reckon the SCG wicket for this test is better than what was dished up at the MCG. Admittedly that's not hard. Be interesting to see what turn the GOAT can extract on day 4/5.... Crane not getting much turn. Moen can't turn a door knob.

The reason we have roads in Australia is CA need the Tests to go 5 days because of the great support the public gives Tests in Australia. Besides England no other country gets crowds that are worthwhile opening the gates for. Games that go less than 5 days probably save them money.

If we prepared a green top the Test wouldnt last 3 days with the techniques of the batsman these days

CA don’t make money on day 5 either as it’s normally free entry and they still have to pay staff etc.
4 full days is what CA want for maximum profits.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

MCG definitely charged decent $ to attend day 5 this year

That tells you all you need to know - why bring jimmy Anderson into the game when we are smashing them anyway?

It’s funny how many people complain about T20 cricket but then also whinge when batters don’t go at more than 3.5 an over - and it also being a green top.

Test cricket is a game of patience. Each pitch besides Melbourne has been good enough for a result and that’s all you want

Days 1-4 weren’t worth shit so paying day 5 is ridiculous

Any chance they’ll get a move on once we pass the Poms score?
I know it’s a Test and all but it really is boring watching it.

We are not even at tea on day 3.
We will be 250+ ahead by this time tomorrow and roll them inside 3 sessions
