Known the family for years, my wife worked for Zac's parents who now own a place up in the hills.
If Zak is, and I believe he is, as good as Phil has always been with running take away joints then I'd expect Zak's to be every bit as good as the Facebook posts show.
Any Richmond locals who remember Phil's Deli on Davenport Tce, that's the one.

Isn't there one open on Kenihan's Road?

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews
Went to Schnithouse at the Beff last night for my older brothers birthday.
No one actually got a schnitzel, which amused my small mind.
The place was fairly empty. I got the Mega Seafood Basket, two people got wings, Mum got the fish and chips and by younger brother got a pulled pork burger.
Everyone was happy with their meal except Mum (which is pretty standard). Mine had two pieces of fish, heaps of squid and prawns, chips and salad.
For my meal and a Super Dry was $38. Not too bad.
At about midnight, the Mega Seafood Basket came back up.
Not sure if it was the meal that made me sick, but I'll probably get a schnitty next time just in case.

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews
FWIW, I'm a regular at the Schnithouse (great happy hour prices - $5 steins).
I always enjoy my parmi, last time I had a Soprano and it was very tasty. Good-size serves of chips. I've never been disappointed.

My old man used to say "Ill have another drink thanks"
PS if you want an awesome steak at a great price try the Halfway Hotel, especially on Monday nights when you can get a rump for $10 and Wednesday nights when all steaks are 25% off. Best pub steaks Ive had by miles and better than 95% of reataurants Ive been to. Medium Rare on the inside and char grilled on the outside, so good. The rest of the food is good, well what Ive tried but the kitchens grill is specifically set up for the steaks. Disclaimer: I work there (not in the kitchen or dining) but call a spade a spade when it comes to food.

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews
Today would have been my dear old Dads 83rd Birthday. Dad passed 9 years ago now.
A few from him.
On selling - "don't sell the steak, sell the sizzle"
On women - "keep 'em well f**cked, and poorly shod"
On fishing - "no good just getting bites..... ya can't eat bites"
Happy Birthday ya old bugger!

Reckons if you're sea sick drink a cup of sea water. You'll be that ******* crook sea sickness will seem like nothing at all the next time you get it.
I remember taking the boat out with the old man and my incredibly stupid uncle, we were on St Kilda Road when the old man said "I hope the wind is going in the right direction for our spot", Uncle Stu put his hand out the window and said "The wind's going that way" as he pointed to the rear of the car.

As a kid we used to go rabbiting out Two Wells / Virginia way, either with ferrets we had or trapping. My old man told an incredibly stupid cousin of mine that he could come rabbiting only after he had his myxomatosis shots.
Sunday rolls around and the cousin rolls up to our place somewhat miffed that they had no idea what he was talking about when he went to Urrbrae for his shots.
My old man would've have said both those blokes, "Have only got heads to keep there ears apart..."
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews
Went to Kaffanabar on Peel St before Ed Sheeran last night, heard good things.
Guy behind the bar informed me that they aren't usually busy on Wednesdays nights and as such only usually have one chef on. Obviously it was relatively busy when we walked in at 6pm on concert night, and he informed us they couldn't get another chef to come in so the wait for food may be a while. No probs, appreciated the heads up. Ordered a Serbian pilsener while we waited.
$10 burgers were a great promo, got 2x Kaffana burgers with pork/beef patty on turkish roll, with tomato, bacon, lettuce, havarti cheese, onion and 'kaffana' sauce. The half beef/pork patty was a bit heavier than what you'd expect at other burger establishments but worked a treat! (and cooked a bit more well than usual burger joints but still juicy) Havarti melted perfectly, and the kaffana sauce was amazing. Plenty of grilled onion which I love. Chips (not fries) were really fluffy with a bit of a crunch. Up there with the best burgers I've had in the city (alongside B&B and Burger Boss).
2x burgers with chips, plus 2 pilseners and a coke for about $40. Steal. Will be back ASAP.
