Times change, what Jaensch allegedly did was rumored to be far worse than what SPP has been accused of but the AFL probably didn't have a department there just to deal with such matters nor a policy to do so.
The Crows took matters into their own hands before an investigation was undertaken i believe. Jaensch "retired" aka got sacked for that and ongoing issues.
The AFL must have some kind of evidence that suggest SPP did something inappropriate other than being drunk in a public place. That or they are making an example of him. Remembering there are different people in charge now than when Martin etc had there indiscretions.
Kochie should have just said how disappointed they were etc etc and then taken it up with the AFL behind closed doors.

Yeah SPP got a game for the being drunk part rather than the alleged inappropriate behaviour. That's my point, the AFL must have some other evidence to support an additional 2 games suspension. If not, then i'd expect an explanation as well but coming out and saying that the AFL 'railroaded a poor kid' etc isn't going to help that's for sure!

I was suprised how contradictory of Koch's statements some of Thomas's comments were. He seems to be on a completely different page to Koch. I feel sorry for him being caught between Koch and the media, he did very well to maintain his cool but the poor bloke looked haggard. I'd hate to see what he's going through behind the scenes with Koch making his job a lot harder than it should be. At the end of the day it was really a "nothing" presso only showing how divided some people in his club are.
