And on the plus side for everyone else I’ll likely not be able to post as much on here

I'm really happy for you mate!

When do you start?

Defence is like a black hole: if you don't manage to get past the event horizon it will slowly draw you back in.

I left DSTO (sic) back in '00. Worked in industry for a while but ended up in the academic arena. Started doing contract work for defence. Eventually ended up stationed out there again for 8 years as a contractor. Broke free a second time doing work for the commercial sector, but it's all happening again: much of my wage is now paid via defence contracts.

I'll bet you haven't seen the last of the old salt mine...

lol yeah I’ll be dealing with DST a lot still given I’m working in SEA1000

in general I really liked working there but my little area was just stagnating and the middle management wasn’t proactive enough for my liking. So for career advancement purposes I thought it was best to take in a new challenge.

I certainly wouldn’t be against moving back there one day

Disney on Ice!
Kids were well behaved and there was some nice yummy mummies there. Was probably my favourite session working at the AEC.
The kids were very cute dressed up as their favourite Disney characters. Unexpectedly there was a few people in their 20s and 30s without kids, a lot of Asian descent but everyone was a pleasure to serve.

Only problem is getting these Disney songs out of my head! Argh!

Get a full range of work there and diverse clientele, coming up soon I have Ice Hockey, Netball and Pink!

Abuse ?? Surely not?

I always thought it as a bit of free friendly advice ?

After all the players and spectators surely know better? ;)

I've had a fair bit going on lately that's out of my control and at the start of the footy season my lad told me that this will probably be his last (he's 12).

I suggested that he see's how this season goes at a new club and I'll accept whatever he decides at the end of it.

His new team have been super receptive towards him, during last week's awards the coach said he thinks he has a real crack at the association medal this season so I thought I'd count his stats yesterday, he racked up 27 kicks, 2 handballs, 12 marks, 5 tackles and kicked 4.2, he even managed 2 hit outs aswell, wasn't a bad effort after having stints on the bench in the 3rd & 4th quarters.

I'm run down and suffer from the big black dog at times but his footy gives me something to look forward to each week, moreso seeing the enthusiasm he has for it again and he comes out of his shell talking about it on the journey home, he's an ultra quiet kid who's quite modest so seeing him glow makes parenthood gold!

If you haven't watched this yet, when you get home take 25 minutes to sit down and enjoy. Fantastic viewing.

If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Gridiron.

In the last few years its already allowed me to travel the country playing football. Played in Vic, NSW, Qld and WA. Represented SA in two campaigns, won league and club awards.

And now this year is shaping up to be a good setup for my career post playing (which I don't intend to happen any time soon).

I coached the first junior Spartans team in 6 years earlier this season. I will be taking the role again for next season.

I'm 1/3 of the social media team thats increased the views on our pages from practically nothing to 11,000 in a week. Also, Coach's Corner was my brainchild if you caught it.

From there I started a flag football competition thats run from the end of the junior season. Finishing up this Wednesday due to senior preaseason starting next Monday.

The junior state head coach position was up for grabs, and the best candidate contacted me before his interview to ask if I'd be an assistant under him. Obviously I accepted. He got the position. So I'll be taking a role as a positional coach for the Junior SA Sharks.

And also extra roles within the Spartans for the upcoming seasons. I have some coaching courses and stuff organised for later this season, as well as a regular dialogue with the Australian National Team coach. Even to the point of him asking me my thoughts on certain aspects of formations and play packages.

F**k I love this sport.
