Locks V Kenilworth.
Too good over the journey in what was a very physical & skilful game. A few sore boys from both sides.
Well done KFC & ta for coming back & enjoying our hospitality

The B grade was a very good match. If Lockleys continue that intensity they’ll be in the mix.bloodhound wrote:Locks V Kenilworth.

The A’s was an interesting one. We really missed a chance to get a break early but Lockleys from there made us earn it- Both teams had plenty of quality out and it was good to see both teams having a real crack. Our first win there in 16 years so that’s a massive positive.
Eastern Park next week is a massive contest as they are getting some real momentum.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Lockleys the sleeping giant in the magoos.. think they dropped maybe one game last year in the minor round and this year 3x losses by combined total of 9 pts and a draw! They could easily be sitting undefeated.

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 5 - 2019
Congrats to Hope Valley yesterday.. started slow and were behind the 8-ball but the ability to trust your own process and keep chipping away is a testament to the influence Sandery is having but also a indication of a good unit.
Duggy was huge - when the game was there to be won he stepped up, attacked the ball with great ferocity - and nearly took mark of the year (prob should’ve been a free kick lol but was still exciting to see the old man get so high.
Sandery massive when he chose to be - thought he was quiet early but worked into it well - I’ll be interested to see how many touches he ended with, I’d say he would’ve had 30 by end of match.. and so smart just crept out into space defensive side and on the inside of stoppages.
Hellmann’s was another who had great moments - kicked 4 which sort of surprised me, thought most the game was pretty even battle with his opponent but he had another gear and when you can be so athletic above your head and below your knees at that size you’re gonna cause some headaches!
Good finish to the game if you were a neutral spectator I would think it would’ve been a good game to watch.

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 5 - 2019
Round 9 looms to be the most important one of the season thus far, not only does it round out everyone having met, there appears to be a logjam in the middle part where we have 4 teams vying for 2 spots.
Lockleys have put themselves back on the radar to some degree with an honourable loss to the competition standout in Kenilworth, take out the 3rd quarter and it was a pretty even contest, a road trip to Salisbury will be a massive test for them though.
Eastern Park you'd assume will go in 5-4 as their trip to St. Marys wouldn't be one they'd be penciling in the 2 points for, the Smithfield round 1 debacle has certainly helped them.
Smithfield you'd assume will account for Rosewater at home, an interesting back 9 as they play away to the other 3 teams that they are competing against for the last two spots in the 5, all are must wins unless they jag a home win against the Valley's or Kenilworth.
Salisbury are gaining momentum with 3 in a row, I wouldn't read too much into the margin at Eric Sutton Reserve, it's a tough oval to play at for the unknown and I wouldn't think that Salisbury and rosewater would've been in the same grade too often in recent times.

2007 was the last time the club played at Rosewater. Only one member of Saturday's 21 played in that game back then, so was a new experience for our group. Lucky to get away with it to be honest, Rosies doing most of the attacking late on.Lightning McQueen wrote:Round 9 looms to be the most important one of the season thus far, not only does it round out everyone having met, there appears to be a logjam in the middle part where we have 4 teams vying for 2 spots.

Tough ground to play, you feel enclosed in and the East/West factor plays a part, I'm not sure if the train line is still in use but that is just a totally weird place to have train track.Pag wrote: 2007 was the last time the club played at Rosewater. It's not in use as far as I know but you're right, its like they've squeezed it between the houses and the oval.
Question is, what was there first? The houses, the track or the oval?

Train line is not in use anymore. There used to be a station next to the oval until 1988 when passenger trains used to operate from Port Adelaide to Dry Creek.Lightning McQueen wrote:Tough ground to play, you feel enclosed in and the East/West factor plays a part, I'm not sure if the train line is still in use but that is just a totally weird place to have train track.Pag wrote: 2007 was the last time the club played at Rosewater. almost the halfway mark. my prediction for top 5
Kenilworth
pultney
hopevalley
lockleys
eastern park
gonna be a exciting race for the last 2 finals spots. injuries and squad depth will play a huge roll for 4th n 5th. cant see anyone out of the top 3 doing damage in finals though

Have to play this round first though, and three very tough clashes - SAL v LOC, SMI v ROS and TOS v PUL... with a bit of rain about and recent form, could be 3 genuine toss of the coin games.
Could well close the round with 4x teams locked away on 5x wins occupying positions 3-6, with 7th on 4 wins.
Hope Valley have a reasonable run home, hard to see them missing the top 2 and should host the qualifying final.

TOTY after Rd 8
F: Polec (PUL), Dempsey (SMI), Liverton (KEN)
HF: Johnson-Schroeder (LOC), Hellmanns (HV), Wilson-King (KEN)
C: Kruse (KEN), Sandery (HV), Richter (KEN)
HB: Krakouer (KEN), Fleming (SAL), Thurgood (HV)
B: Williams (HV), Fitzpatrick (PUL), Clarke (KEN)
Ruck: Garang (HV), Walkley (EP), Chesser (KEN)
Int: Hillard (ROS), Keenihan (SAL), Williamson (EP), Forwood (TOS)
*Notes* -
Not sold on Liverton in a FP, Wanganeen (SMI) is one of the more dangerous forwards i've seen so far this year, but Liverton is the leading goal kicker so gets a gig by default.
Probably only other change would be Hellmanns to FF, Dempsey out and Giddings (PUL) to CHF.
Vea Vea (KEN), Brodie (PUL), Duggan (HV) and Hillman (BOS) unlucky to not make the cut.
