whufc wrote:I can understand why 8 and 8 makes sense but the problem i have found managing sporting comps for over ten years now is that even if they reduce the womens comp to a 8 team A Grade all that will happen is the 8th and 7th placed sides will push the agenda and believe they have a genuine case to move down to grade 2. Especially as this would means they would more than likely have to play Eyre more than once a season unless they wanted a 7 game season.
Interestingly from what I could gather from the meeting, clubs didn’t want to play Eyre Royals but at the same time none wanted to drop down a division (except Smithfield). Go figure.
Sounds like 2hrs of telling and bitching and frankly waste of time.
LOL, nothing much has changed with the meetings then, I do remember when clubs were talking about just forfeiting against Eyre/Rosies, there's some bloody good players floating around the comp though, it just takes one good knock to win a game.
Carly “We might be pulling our B grade and not fielding a side.” PDCA “Smithfield can take your spot then.” Carly “what if we don’t pull our side though, now where do we play.”

On a seperate note i'd like to thank Moriachi for all his hard work over the years, but i've heard he has moved to the Falklands and will not have access to the intraweb.
As mentioned before it's going to be a bit of a anti-climactic minor round season until the finals hit.
G1 for mine will be: SW EP AV VIR PG NEK
There will be a big gap between 4th and 5th at seasons end, Eastern Park and Angle Vale will play off for 2nd place in round 14.
G2: NP DUB OTH ATCO EU ER CR RS
Pines to finish minor premiers comfortably, Dublin and the Goats will be relatively close and the Earwigs could really challenge the Huts for the last minor round place, the need Carl's brother back out though. Royals and Blues will pick a surprise win here or there and scare teams, Riverside will win one game for the season.
G3: SW SM AV NP PP CR EU PG
This will be the closest grade but Westies will be far too good IMO. Smithfield look ok on paper and have scoring options, Angle Vale always have a decent B grade, the Pines are always on the up, the Pirates are a bit of an unknown, Craigmore could push for finals if their A Grade is settled for the year, if they keep losing players to the 1's it will be a struggle.

Whilst we might not get Carl's brother.. have just signed up Carl's mum for womens cricket - here's hoping her son gets his ability from her!

Virginia looking better than i expected albeit played an under strength EP and expected lower ranked PG.
EP definitely looking forward to getting all the lads back next game. Lucky the way results look like heading they aren't to far off the pace and can still easily set them self up for a top 4 spot. The first 2 weeks might of hurt more if they had lost to PG or NEK, but even at full strength they could have 'potentially' lost to Virg and SW.
It''s hard to see past a top 4 of SW, Virg, AV and EP with PG and NEK comfortably missing out.
I'm a fan of the top 6 model but have to say it does feel very lacklustre.

I suspect you're correct with NEK and the Gardens to miss out, I think Eastern Park might not be all that we've come to expect, just not sure that cricket is as much as a priority for the group as it has been, I hope I'm wrong though.
I wonder if their B Grade gets the arse? 3 forfeits already, would be disappointing considering they have a 16's again now.
