yep pulled pin on the year
any reason? Other than they were going to be really crap at playing football?
someones up and about angaston must of played finals last couple of years...
Going to be real hard for your club to recover from this, you traditionally struggle with B Grade, this wont make it any better for numbers next year. a fresh challenge of a new league might be what you need, might win a flag in that comp too.
gee wouldnt have thought you could go on about premierships how many have angaston A grade won

oh righto we'll just pick a point in time that suits your agenda, wipe the rest of the clubs history.
Just read the clubs press release, sounds like being non-competitive was a major part of their decision, absolutely pathetic.
All the other reasons arent really applicable anymore.

Pre-Covid the club was looking very good, numbers were up, squad looked great (A and B grade) and there was going to be some real competition for spots. Unfortunately all that hard work was undone by Covid and we find ourselves with the tough decision and the club has made the call that is best for Freeling, with the support of league from what it seems. The club has some really passionate people in it who will work through this season to ensure we are set for a big 2021.

Your reserves and juniors struggle every year, your A Grdae is only competitive with 10-12 imports.Bigshow82 wrote:And the logic behind this would be??daysofourlives wrote:Maybe its time for them to head off to the APFL?Bigshow82 wrote:Club will be running from 17s down. It would be a hard decision because no doubt in 10 or so years when the population increase at Freeling kicks in you would be more than competitive at junior levels. Do you go through another 10 years of pain or get a bit of excitement around the club with the move. Its going to be very hard to come back with a full senior list next year.

Re: BL&G Football League
Pretty piss poor by Freeling really. To announce this after June 30 clearance cut off disadvantages their players preventing them playing elsewhere also after fixture was released. A deliberate and calculated move perhaps?
I agree with an earlier post as soon as they said they were not going to be competitive the rest of their statement just doesnt stack up at all. This so called extra work which is not really that bad as plenty of other clubs are making the effort yet they will do this extra work for juniors and womens comps so its a joke they wont put in the same effort for their senior footy sides.
Have they taking the easy option to throw in the towel for reasons not explained, clearly their statement contradicts itself at certain stages. Maybe their imports were not prepared to come for free i dont know but i think they could not have handled this worse at such late notice. They will miss out on opportunities to raise decent funds this year due to no player payments and think they may struggle next year for their poor, late and unprofessional decision making this year. Well done to all the other clubs with a can do attitude. Great for small communities to have local footy back!

Re: BL&G Football League
Any idea to link where i can read up on this covid permit...we had a guy from an abandoned interstate league who has moved to s.a for work transfer after june 30 and have been told he is on a type 2 permit and can play but not finals. Trying to find out more info. Strange if you are cleared in time for rnd 1 but cant play finals if all turns out to be true. The Bedge wrote:Players can still move on a COVID permit.oldbomber wrote:Pretty piss poor by Freeling really. Re: BL&G Football League
The clubs put a fair bit of effort into its junior program over the past couple years and I think some results last year showed some good improvement. Only time will tell I guess if we can improve enough to meet the standards.daysofourlives wrote:Your reserves and juniors struggle every year, your A Grdae is only competitive with 10-12 imports.Bigshow82 wrote:And the logic behind this would be??daysofourlives wrote:Maybe its time for them to head off to the APFL?Bigshow82 wrote:

Personally I will take the short term pain for some long term gain. Not sure on your time frames though but only time will tell.
Round 1 against Ango should give us a guide to if our juniors have improved.

Yep normally its your best chance for a win in the juniors along with Kapunda.
Im using 10years a s a round figure for you to get more junior numbers that will also translate into more senior players.

Re: BL&G Football League
With freeling out
Should they redo the fixture to make 2 rounds
Would midweek games make this viable or just go the extra weeks ?

Re: BL&G Football League
Yeah they should re do it so theres no byes but then Freelings juniors would be left in the lurch.Arry Gablett wrote:With freeling out

Instead we'll have 7 games of footy and 2 byes for the seniors, very selfish of Freeling. It will be interesting to see how many of their players play elsewhere and never return. I was told had they pulled out earlier a redraw wouldve been done. There wouldnt be time for 2 rounds, season still has to finish on the 26th Sept.
Some clubs will now have just 3 home games, Tanunda in particular being hard hit with Cent, Will and Kap as their 3 home games. The gawler clubs have very limited supporters that travel. Maybe the 4 clubs with only 3 home games will be in the running for the 2 finals.

Re: BL&G Football League
Could there be another back flip coming?
The BL&GFA is meeting with Freeling tonight.
I think the other 8 clubs are very keen for Freeling to get at least an A Grade up for this year. 9 weeks with 2 byes isnt really palatable.
Ill say it again pulling your team out because it wasnt going to be competitive isnt good enough. (The presidents statement, not mine)
I think Freeling may have now realized that would lose some young players to other clubs and it might be so easy to get them back.
IMO they will be in even bigger trouble next year if they dont play this year

Re: BL&G Football League
They have already allowed some players to sign in other leagues for the rest of the year...my son is.one of them who wanted freeling to play but when decision was made he wants.to play.some.footy so they let him sign for an adelaide.footy league.div2.side for the year and return next.year.....daysofourlives wrote:Could there be another back flip coming?
