Seperate teams, just going to stretch resources, we are hosting Digger Day and GF rematch.

Just play away then

SANFL Juniors advised clubs of 2020 playing dates way back in November from memory. Pretty sloppy for any club admin to not be across this until now. Cracks beginning to appear along Blacks Rd.

Great news, SANFL have worked hard to get this in place, great job.

SANFL is excited to announce that National Pharmacies SANFL Juniors – the biggest junior football competition in Australia – will start on June 26, making it one of the first community footy leagues in the nation to return to play.

The competition, which is expected to see over 11,500 junior players line up in 650 teams across the metropolitan area, will have a 12-round non-stop season with a two-week finals series ending in late September.

The season will kick off with round one matches under lights on June 26 and continue on Sunday, June 28 – the same weekend as the opening round of the 2020 SANFL Statewide Super League season.

Fixtures will be released by SANFL in mid-June.

SANFL General Manager Football Matt Duldig said the League took full advantage of the State Government Step 2 easing of COVID-19 social restrictions which will allow full competition for contact sport to resume in SA from June 25.

“We’re absolutely rapt that we will have SANFL Juniors kick off before the end of June, allowing us to schedule 12 minor rounds up until mid-September followed by finals for the 36 premiership divisions,” Mr Duldig said.

“This is a great outcome given that we weren’t even sure less than a month ago if we would have the opportunity to play football in 2020.

“Thanks to everyone in SA doing the right thing, and SA Health recognising the importance of sport for kids’ physical and mental wellbeing, we are able to get a season underway safely in line with the easing of restrictions.”

SANFL and community football in South Australia transitioned to contact training this week in groups of up to 20, with a maximum of 80 per oval, with strict hygiene protocols under State Government Step 2 easing of restrictions.

When matches commence, up to 80 players, umpires, coaches and trainers (excluding match officials) will be permitted on each oval, under strict hygiene protocols.

“We’re absolutely rapt that we will have SANFL Juniors kick off before the end of June, allowing us to schedule 12 minor rounds up until mid-September followed by finals for the 36 premiership divisions.”

Matt Dulig - SANFL General Manager Football
SANFL is working closely with SA Health and the Office of Recreation, Sport and Racing with regards to the number of parents and spectators allowed at matches, with further updates to be provided closer to the start date.

“What’s important is that we now have some certainty over the season and can get matches underway from June 26 in a manner which ensures the safety and health of our players, coaches, umpires, volunteers and the broader community,” Mr Duldig said.

“In addition to providing a physical and mentally healthy outlet for the more than 11,500 participants and umpires, SANFL Juniors also offers a great social connection for families and is part of the cultural fabric of metropolitan communities.”

National Pharmacies SANFL Juniors caters for boys and girls from under 7s through to under 16.5 years at more than 50 community clubs. Registrations are still open for the 2020 season, click below for information.

Oh how I envy the kids playing finals in mid to late Sept. The smell of freshly cut ovals and spring when the footy is still on. Almost enough for me to pull on the boots again. Although with the speed of the game I doubt I'd get a game in my sons u11's.

Great to see the amateur league going ahead especially for the junior grades.
We don’t want to give kids more excuses to sit at home enjoying technology when
they should be out running around playing our great game.
Just a question what days & times do your Under 11 & Under 10 grades matches
play?

Times are going to change slightly this year to provide a 20 min gap between games

Thanks for the info. You might have an influx of kids travelling down the hill for a game
if our comps don’t go ahead. Happy to travel longer distances if it means not missing a season of footy!
Hope it doesn’t come to this though...

One thing I do not understand is the 20 minute gaps.

Are coaches going to be told that they can't arrive until after the previous game ends? Because what will happen is that as soon as the previous game finishes, teams will be on the field doing their warm up, or worse, they'll still be in the changerooms (if allowed). I don't see it solving the problem intended at all.

Re-gradings are in after 3 rounds, must be bloody hard work to do this, not only moving teams between Divs but then the flow on effect of how that impacts the fixtures and ground availability. SANFL do a great job with it though.

OK, I'm pretty interested in how the 15's pans out, Flinders Park have been on the arse end of some floggings but they've played the 3 strongest sides.

CLG should've been promoted from the get go.

I'm excited.. our fixtures are back for the kids - a Friday night game that isn't at 6pm (7:40pm) so don't have to rush after work and our U9s is 11:20 Sunday at Geppies! Not only do I get to have a sleep in, but it's only up the road.

Winning.

*edit* - sad news is most of our remaining U9 games are 8:30am :(

As much as a pain in the arse the 6 o'clockers are, at least they're wrapped up early enough.

Think our 15s don’t meet the criteria to go up to div one

Think it’s scoring a certain amount while restricting the opponent to a certain amount
