Basically an opinion piece from him trying to defend the journos hidden as a week in review.
Tom continues to push the theory that paying the workers more so they don't have second jobs would have solved the problem.
It wouldn't. As seen with this cluster, the majority of transmission has occurred at home, not at second jobs.
And if these people don't have second jobs, then they are spending that time out in the community at social outings (either public or private), once again, spreading the virus.
Asking the workers to go into their own lockdowns while not at work, and not socialise with anyone, is unreasonable.
Asking them not to work a second job, but allow social activity (which seems to be the line the journos are pushing) achieves nothing to minimise the risk of further transmission.
The key to stopping these clusters is to keep the disease in the medi-hotel in the first place!
