Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)
What's everyone's gut feel on todays press conference announcement.
Disappointingly I feel like December 1 easing of restrictions will be delayed and pushed back to 14 days from when they believe the Woodville High student contracted Covid. I feel like this was somewhat hinted at in yesterdays press conference.
The optimist in me though expected further restrictions to be announced at yesterdays press conference so im somewhat hoping after the initial lockdown shenanigans that they are trying to keep as much open as possible.

It's hard to say, I reckon we are likely to get a later presser today as the key is the results from the close contacts yesterday.whufc wrote:What's everyone's gut feel on todays press conference announcement.

If these year 9s or 11s girls (whichever the case maybe) are the close types then this might explode a bit and then it won't be a fun presser.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)
I hear the government focusing a lot on year levels at Woodville High.
I've never been to the school but am I being naïve to think that whilst it is most likely they hung around kids of their own year levels its not uncommon for years levels to cross mingle.
My high school sweetheart was one year level below me, we had older brothers we used to hang around. Surely the entire school on that day needs to be tested yeah.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)
It was Saturday 14th November when the lady in her 80s presented to the Lyall Mac and was tested for Covid. Following that, they announced the Pizza bar was a hotspot from Nov 6 (8 days before she presented with symptoms) through to Nov 16.
The School Girl got tested on Tuesday 24th Nov, and they've said her 'contact' with the 'pizza bar' was on Nov 14th, 10 days before her Symptoms.
There was a case last week that had tested negative twice, and on the third test was confirmed positive. Spurrier suggested it was day 8 for them as well.
This is a slow moving virus. The 24 hour theory seems to be long gone.
If the school girl has passed it on to a number of her friends, I don't think we will see any positive results coming through just yet, in terms of exposure on Monday (23rd).
Now don't get me wrong, she might have exposed them on the Tues 17th / Wed 18th, before the pause started, but hopefully she wasn't infectious yet having only picked it up herself on the 14th. The fact SA Health haven't called for lockdowns for anyone at the school on the 17th or 18th is a good sign IMO.
Given all of the above, I'd be absolutely shocked if we see 21 cases today, at least in terms of her school mates.
I'd expect we'll see her direct family she was in lockdown with as +ve cases, but would have thought they got tested tuesday night and therefore results would have been known Wed/Thurs, and therefore we'd know about them already.
Fingers crossed but we might be lucky that her infectious period landed during the pause and the damage isn't too bad at all.
The slower movement of the virus is a good sign in terms of spread rates decreasing, but equally it means its harder to detect when it is still floating around the general community in small doses. This second part might lead the transition committee, who have been notoriously conservative, to continue with the restrictions in place for a little longer. With that said, I think they'll be happy to go from 4m2 to 2m2 rules with the uptake of the QR codes app and things like that, so I'm expecting an announcement along the lines of 'restrictions extended, however can come down now for venues who use the app'.

Yeah hopefully the transition committee had a quick meeting. Nothing to worry about, continue ahead with the QR codes and roll back to early november restrictions on Dec 1.
Then again, if the transition committee haven't met yet, they might be slipping the presser in before they meet so they can answer every question with "we'll look at that this morning" and effectively buy themselves another day before announcing what will and wont be the results of this latest blip.
