SACA have to re do the 20/20 draw after few complaints. think they had teams going from one side of town to the other on the first Saturday to play two games, pretty smartMinimum Chips wrote:Program up on MyCricket for all grades except for T20s and Women's (whether women's because still some doubt with Adelaide?)

Also, another season with 13 clubs - guess we'll keep having the same commentary as always. Another season of not changing the comp and reducing teams.

Re: Grade Cricket
Exactly, if those finals had gone the other way this wouldn't be a talking point. Don't be surprised if there's an influx of NSW and Vic Premier cricketers jumping the border if their comps don't start. Fair chance that will be the case for NSW. If that was to happen, I'd expect the competition to be stronger this seasonEagles2014 wrote:Unless the Redbacks are winning and on top like 4 or 5 years ago, never heard a whisper about too many teams thenMinimum Chips wrote:Good work SACA!!Eagles2014 wrote:SACA have to re do the 20/20 draw after few complaints. think they had teams going from one side of town to the other on the first Saturday to play two games, pretty smartMinimum Chips wrote:Program up on MyCricket for all grades except for T20s and Women's (whether women's because still some doubt with Adelaide?)![]()

This from my point of view is completely incorrect. The issue with 13 teams is all about the standard of grade cricket in SA - has it improved in the last 5 years, No! Are we closer to producing a batter who is good enough to play first-class cricket through the grade system, No!
This whole argument for the Grade setup being wrong doesn't live or die by the Redback's failures or successes, it is needed due to continued decline in grade standard and its ability to assist in the production of first-class cricketers.

Last shield win there were 14 teams. Perhaps expansion would be betterEagles2014 wrote:Unless the Redbacks are winning and on top like 4 or 5 years ago, never heard a whisper about too many teams thenMinimum Chips wrote:Good work SACA!!Eagles2014 wrote:SACA have to re do the 20/20 draw after few complaints. think they had teams going from one side of town to the other on the first Saturday to play two games, pretty smartMinimum Chips wrote:Program up on MyCricket for all grades except for T20s and Women's (whether women's because still some doubt with Adelaide?)![]()

Think a lot will come back thru NT like they did last year, all the VIC and NSW players wont want to go home when they finish the season up there. Port picked up several last year and Prospect, will be even more this season I reckon.

Two games on Sat Oct 9 and one game on Sunday Oct 10. Program needed to be done again as had teams travelling all over Adelaide on Saturday.Bluedemon wrote:When is Round 1 of the T20 games scheduled?

Re: Grade Cricket
Yes- don't know why they couldn't use Park 25 for some of the games (I know Rolton would be unavailable due to SA v WA shield game)?? Not that bright having Southern Districts play their first game at home and then travel to Kensington for the next game which would have been scheduled to start only 1 hour after the completion of the first game!!Eagles2014 wrote:Two games on Sat Oct 9 and one game on Sunday Oct 10. Re: Grade Cricket
Always amazes me how Clubs promise the world to young kids with parents who think their child is the next Steve Smith. To say you will bat Top 4 all year no matter what is irresponsible. What happens when he makes four ducks in a row, or he doesn’t turn up to a game because he is hungover from a big night out, or still got drugs in his system from the big party on the Saturday night before a Sat/Sun match? This will end in tearsmaxi wrote:Smart move opportunity would have been limited at Torrenswedgetail wrote:Carrington (WT) joining Adelaide. Promised top 4 batting spot apparently.

That's what happens. When clubs go on a recruiting spree that's fine but it pushes existing players out.

Re: Grade Cricket
Its not a salty response at all. Just talking facts. Personally I would have cut him from the Club last year after the sixth incident! The Club did everything to support him, he was suspended a couple of times by the club as a last resort, but you can only do so much. Getting mixed up with the wrong crowd can be the downfall of many young lads. The fact Adelaide have guaranteed him batting top 4 all year no matter what is typical and never ends well. The kids that stuck around in similar circumstances a few years ago are now Triple premiership players, just sayingTony Clifton wrote:Pretty salty responseEagles2014 wrote:Always amazes me how Clubs promise the world to young kids with parents who think their child is the next Steve Smith. Would have thought you could have left it at we wish him well at Adelaide, unfortunately didn't work out at WT hope he gets some of the off-field things sorted.Eagles2014 wrote:Always amazes me how Clubs promise the world to young kids with parents who think their child is the next Steve Smith. Rather than a bit of character assassination on the way out, and it doesn't matter if you think it's public knowledge by raising that all on the way out is ridiculous!
