Bad kicking is bad football. Dogs missed some very easy shots

Dogs 6.16(52)
Sturt 8.8(56)

Full time

Dogs goals: East 2 McCormack Fort Grace Lange

FFFFAAARRRKKKK

Competent foot skills cost dogs big time.

No offence to Sturt fans but I thought they were lucky to hold on

Cant expect to kick 6-16 and win missed some gettable shots that we shouldve kicked .

On the right track though .

Agreed. If we can keep the nucleus of this side together for next season and add a tall marking forward to the team, we should be able to well and truly compete for the five next season. I see our progression somewhat like that of Sturt last season.

Endeavour again outweighs the skill.level. Excellent in stoppages, particularly in centre clearances.
Again a wide spread of guys putting on a decent shift. Loving what Billy Iles is offering and Buechner played a solid game down back. Ultra impressive Llewellyn held Davis goalless to add to his resume for the season. Ethan East is another who is becoming more consistent as a forward threat at league level.
I love all our sanfl media guys, but to mistake nick lange for trav Schiller (Sunday mail article) for a goal, esp a set shot, is not great from one of our better scribes.

Battersby held reasonably quiet but Guy Page put together a solid game and Emmett was very noticeable in the first half.

Btw, a very interesting (somewhat confusing, and possibly controversial) conclusion to the Under 16s match yesterday. Trailing by 2 points a Sturt player took a mark about 35 metres out from goal. After a long time preparing for his kick, during which time the final siren went, he kicked what looked to be a match-winning goal. The goal umpire raised her two fingers up to signal the goal and the Sturt players started celebrating. However, the goal was disallowed and Central won by the two points. I did notice the field umpire signalling 'no goal' even before the goal umpire raised her fingers, but I am not exactly sure why the goal was overruled. Did the Sturt player take too long preparing for his kick (resulting in a call of 'play on', meaning the game would end at that point as the siren had gone), does the final siren prevent any further motion being allowed (as there is no 'time-on' in these matches, a flat 23 minutes per quarter) or was there an infringement on the line (which i didn't notice)?
Pleased with the win after what was a great match, but still somewhat confused.
Cheers

Think the previous game between the 2 sides centrals won with a kick after the siren.

Looking a bit better,it's a bit concerning that the reserves and 18s are bottom.
Definitely need another marking forward and atleast 2 quality mids.

Sturt somehow managed to hang on, when really, it looked like a matter of time before Central's took the lead.
Sturt looking thin in the midfield, desperately need a few to come back.
The day started with a bang, with an all in brawl at 3QT of the Reserves match. An after the goal siren to James Richards (st) saw his teammates swarm him to congratulate him. On the way through a Centrals player (Harry Grant?) appeared to be hit and went to ground. A brawl ensued. An older, foolish spectator was getting close to the umpires and non stop remonstrating with them. Both sides managed to play the last quarter without incident which was good.

Michael De Jonge was the player that went down after the brave Sturt player hit him off the ball and after the goal was scored

Did he come off for the blood rule?

Didn't look like much in it to me.
