We are probably in as good form as Norwood, Sturt and Glenelg at present... that goes for Westies too :D
F*** applying that logic given we were within 1 pt of Centrals when the siren sounded at the end of the 2009 2nd semi final we can be considered premiers as we were almost as good as them

The reality is you were winless in the last five rounds the only team to be. There’s a strong argument that you ended the season as the worst team in the comp.

So genuine question do you want share your 2009 flag or acknowledge where you are really at in the 2022 season?
Yes, over the full season, we definitely deserved to finish ninth. However, the upswing in form by both West and Central in the final few weeks of the season, when neither had anything to play for, has me feeling more confident about the chances of those two clubs in 2023 than a currently stumbling Glenelg who appear to have their best days behind them.
that makes more sense.

Don't think that will be an issue next year.

With the first full time dedicated Football Manager appointed in club history, he will be focusing on recruitment and retention and adding to the squad depth will come naturally with that.
Every club will lose players, it's inevitable.

O-Kay and you were beaten by a team that you rate as “stumbling”

You’re right about West though I’ll give you that given they went 3-2
Well baited... hook, line and sinker ;)

That having been said, I would have been lacking confidence if we had been soundly beaten in those three matches (Norwood, Sturt and Glenelg). However, even opposition players have stated that Central were very unlucky in each of those games. We know what we need to improve upon next year: having Barreau and Nitschke available and with full pre-seasons behind them, plus the recruitment of a key leading forward and a mid should have us well placed for next season. I believe that Ross will help us gain players for these two positions.

I do fear for Glenelg though; very much the best team throughout last year but self-destructed in the finals and have been going further backwards ever since. If you trail the team that you consider to be a basket-case for 99.5% of the match on your home ground, with everything to play for whilst they have nothing to play for... and they are missing their captain and best player, things sure don't look rosy.
I live in the Glenelg area and have empathy for them but it sadly looks as if they will miss flags in years where they really should have won at least one.
Cheers

Definitely a couple making contact with clubs at the moment to see what's out there and on offer.

Played in the GF last year, wouldn't think that was self destructing in the Finals. Everything to play for on the weekend? Finals already secured and extremely unlikely to finish above 4th. A bit of hysteria here.

Point taken, but you have to admit the form lately has been nowhere near that shown for most of last year. The double chance was there for the taking for Glenelg for most of the season; I don't think Glenelg fans would be too optimistic at the moment. As for 'self destructing', Glenelg had a far better list (and minor round season) than the Eagles last year, started with two of the first three goals and then lost by over ten; that is definitely 'self-destruction'.

Re: Centrals, they were very ordinary when we saw them at Elizabeth this year (against WWT), and have watched them on SANFL Now a few times - they are getting back their mojo.

Re: Bays, if they knock off Sturt they can build on that - still have a good squad - when they flattened us at Glenelg they were full of beans, very motivated, and very intense. Obviously they had a point to prove against us, but if they can replicate that approach they can beat anyone in the five.

There are no eastern league games on this weekend, are there?

So why the frig are the SANFL games on the Sunday, not the Saturday?

All about local footy too. I'd prefer Saturdays but they want to keep Sundays consistent throughout the finals since there's usually AFL games on Saturday and they want all teams having 7 days break.
Suits me though as I'll be at the Rugby on Saturday and having a rest on Sunday :D

Norwood’s Nik Rokahr and North Adelaide’s Aaron Young have become the first players to tie for the SANFL Now Player of the Year Award.

Half time Ressies Elimination

Eagles by 9 goals, winning the passions by +30 and the tackles +7 (that’s ******* embarrassing)

Pudney dominating

I’m having de ja vouz of last years league Grannie
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
