Re: ASCA
It's a long shot but....
Trying to locate any relatives of Ray Lee.
He played cricket with St. Marks CC (now Morphettville Park) from 1953.
He was known as The Bradman of the Parklands for his batting feats.
If anyone can help, we'd be eternally grateful.
Cheers Moe

A few Belair players have headed down to the Pastie at MV Park.whitepointers wrote:Belair are no longer, perhaps unsurprisingly.
Not sure on any other club, team, player news as yet... pitches are still covered
Coromandel seem to have gone hard at Happy Valley Players seeing their announcement videos on their Socials. Hay looks to have left MV Park after his year there and headed back up the hill to Coromandel with his mates who have moved from HV.
How is HV travelling for numbers now?
Any news on Flagstaff Hill who seem to have also lost a few?

Have heard Porties have picked up a few new players, as have ICC & Western Youth maybe having some former players returning.footy1992 wrote:A few Belair players have headed down to the Pastie at MV Park.whitepointers wrote:Belair are no longer, perhaps unsurprisingly.

Re: ASCA
Here is the list of clearance requests from ASCA clubs that have been lodged through the old mycricket program.
Unfortunately they can't accept those clearances, so are monitoring them this way and will allow a permit Round 1 if nothing has been done by the clubs.

Getting Ray and especially Burgess back and picking up Goldner is real handy for your blokes!whitepointers wrote:Here is the list of clearance requests from ASCA clubs that have been lodged through the old mycricket program.

Certainly is. Looking forward to seeing Goldner in action. The Dark Knight wrote:Getting Ray and especially Burgess back and picking up Goldner is real handy for your blokes!whitepointers wrote:Here is the list of clearance requests from ASCA clubs that have been lodged through the old mycricket program.

We got half a dozen more returning players who will play B's and below which is handy along with some promoted Under 16s.
Reece Button is another you can add to the list.
Reasonably excited for the season ahead for the first time in a while. We've been doing it tough past few seasons so will be good to hopefully win more games than we lose.

Re: ASCA
As much as I personally would like the competition to be one dayers only as I don't get the point of having 2 day community cricket anymore the 8 team comps playing 7 two dayers and 7 one dayers, playing each opposition team once home and away has worked an absolute treat since its inception and it's an even playing schedule across the grades. The Bedge wrote:Love the look of that.. if travel wasn't so bloody far away, we'd definitely consider ASCA [emoji38]whitepointers wrote:Gradings for ASCA Season 2022/23

Re: ASCA
I love that it’s the same across all the grades. PDCA used to be the same, but since one day grades came in obviously it’s seen that vastly change.

2 x B grade sides in section 10!
Flagstaff Hill the new Happy Valley.
South Road bottom in section 10 last season go up a section?

On second thoughts, Happy Valley are still the best at getting whatever they want.Moe wrote:2 x B grade sides in section 10!

Sookwd last season saying they'd lost heaps of player's, so they all went down a section.
A grade finishing a reasonable 5th, B grade choking in gf, and C grade winning section 10, a travesty of justice.
Now their A grade go down another section.
Pack of flogs.

Re: ASCA
I think you raise some valid points Moe.
This is without me knowing if Happy Valley have lost or picked up anyone.
Their Section 2 side played some real good cricket after Christmas last season.
I would've thought that would give them good reason to go into this season with some confidence.
2 x B Grade sides in Section 10 isn't ideal, unless they are really lacking some serious depth.
South Rd going up doesn't make sense to me unless the club requested it.

Yep HV's A grade finishing 5th and going doing to Section 3 is an absolute joke!Moe wrote:On second thoughts, Happy Valley are still the best at getting whatever they want.Moe wrote:2 x B grade sides in section 10!

It was their 3rd grade team in section 10 last season, so now they only have 2 teams, which makes more sense.
HV on the other hand, are still flogs.....

Re: ASCA
IMO no B grade team should be below Section 7 or 8 especially when the likes of Shiedow Park, Coromandel & Ramblers have to have 3 teams in the top 5 sections.
Does it help that the association secretary is linked to HV ....

Re: ASCA
I agree with you footy1992, but that is what also makes Sheidow and the Coro teams better, so good on those clubs for wanting to be the best they can be.footy1992 wrote:IMO no B grade team should be below Section 7 or 8 especially when the likes of Shiedow Park, Coromandel & Ramblers have to have 3 teams in the top 5 sections.

Porties finished 2nd bottom of Section 7 last season.. We've picked up a few and asked to go to Section 5.
It would've been easy to try fly under the radar and go for an easy flag, but we also want to put our players into the best they can play.
Those clubs seeking for easy flags in the lower Sections may get a little bit of joy from playing lower than they should be but long term I reckon they'll always be a lower section club.
