Same problem as here in SA as to why Labor had a 16 year run. Your state Liberals are massive Muppets. You have Mathew Guy, Michael O'Brien and then Tim Smith lurking ready to come back.
I just can't see these guys winning an election.

Moreover the population is less right leaning than it once was.

The older more conservative generation is dwindling, the younger generation is more left leaning and the Libs haven't moved with it, they can't, by definition.

I'm not surprised. Although I am still a Liberal Party member, I am being turned off by the religious right trying to take over and turn the party into a conservative group over the recent years. When I joined in 1990 it was more middle ground. Tony Abbott becoming leader was the beginning of the change.

So far, I am still a member and trying to help resist the conservative take-over. I stayed put because I could not consider Bill Shorten as an alternative federally, nor Rann at state level. Jay Weatherill seemed OK the few times I met and talked to him at functions, but did not move far enough away from Rann to get my support - though it may be he was just being cautious. I've discussed this with a couple of old school friends who were Ministers under John Bannon.

Overall, I am happy with Anthony Albanese federally, and in SA with Peter Malinauskas whom I have spoken to a couple of times at functions. At recent elections, I've backed independents Dan Cregan and Rebekha Sharkie.

Matthew Guy waited until 3 days before the election to announce any policies. Up to that point all the Libs did was bag labour.

FFS provide an alternative!

Given around 1.5 million Vics voted pre poll, too late she cried.

Whoever takes the poison challis that is leader of the libs, please provide an alternative to that **** Dan
1961, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015.... And don't you forget it!

Murdoch campaign against Dan Andrews was bordering on criminal.
They didn’t attack one minister or the Labor policies, they just made their campaign a hate campaign against him and his family by guilt with association.
The lowest of lowest points surly was the front page on the steps Dan crushed his back on, like he deserved it type attitude.
May the commentators that write for this rag step down and walk away from journalism .....

Maybe people have woken up that every election News Corp runs campaigns for conservatives under the cover of news.

Jeez the cookers on this site have been very quiet of late ....

Pysber we might disagree on our political views but I respect your views and that's the joys of this country .

Agree,
The religious right are a major concern and the state libs replace Marshall with David Speirs who is a fanatical religious nut.

As a Liberal voter I completely agree.

Going down the path of a fringe party only worried about balance of power in the upper house with the nutters they put up in Victorian election.

Said it before and I say it again you give up the middle ground of Australian politics at your peril.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

*3 out of 26 in metro Melbourne (depending on what you count as Melbourne).

Situation not as bad if taking into account regional Vic.

Those North Melbourne draft concessions were the final nail.

Hope it doesn’t mean the dirtbag will join our board now. He has been hinting for a long time he would jump on when he is finished at a political level

Pretty average comment. Suicide not a laughing matter I'd say.

Isn't Dan just 10 months into his term?

Here we go again, all the conspiracies under the sun will be back.

Stairs or steps. Something doesn't add up
