I try to find the quickest route to an off-road track, I don't see the need to ride on the roads when there's plenty of safer options.Dutchy wrote:And thats why I rarely ride on the road these days, way too many angry motorists
I'm not a big fan of drivers' attention either, I remember having to ride down Prospect Road a few times and whenever I heard a car approaching from behind or waiting to come out of a side street, I thought it could well be my last moment.
If the bikes just keep as far left as practical then everyone should be able to commute without issue.

Other issue I have is in a dual carriage way, bike rider in the left lane/bike lane, cars that are in the left lane avoid the bike but forget cars in the right lane. Last week someone took the mirror off a car going around a bike rider

Yesterday there was a dude riding his bike over the Port Wakefield Road bridge @ Wingfield with a dark shirt and black backpack on, that stretch of road is what always prevented me from cycling to work, scary shit.Brodlach wrote:Other issue I have is in a dual carriage way, bike rider in the left lane/bike lane, cars that are in the left lane avoid the bike but forget cars in the right lane. Re: Things that make you laugh
Agree, less and less drivers have patience these days and I don't want one error from them meaning I end up under their vehicle, hence its MTBing for me where I have to battle snakes and rocks, but those shouldn't kill me!Lightning McQueen wrote:I try to find the quickest route to an off-road track, I don't see the need to ride on the roads when there's plenty of safer options.Dutchy wrote:And thats why I rarely ride on the road these days, way too many angry motorists

Re: Things that make you laugh
Agreed, I was just mentioning it as drivers need to be more aware. It’s easy to worry about the cyclists and forget about what’s in the other laneDutchy wrote:Thats a car issue, not a bike rider issueBrodlach wrote:Other issue I have is in a dual carriage way, bike rider in the left lane/bike lane, cars that are in the left lane avoid the bike but forget cars in the right lane. Re: Things that make you laugh
Cross Rd must be #11
5/10 Eastern Suburbs roads, go figure.....
AS someone who used to commute regularly to work by bike all year round, I used to hate this time of the year. All the once a year bike d!ckheads would be out and about p!ssing off motorists.
They'll be gone by 30/01 for 11 months

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Re: Things that make you laugh
You would avoid most of those roads if you could, all of them would have bike paths nearby or at the very least quieter back streets
Interesting that the same research show cyclists were only at fault for 17% of these accidents

Re: Things that make you laugh
How Port Road hasn't forfeited one of their 12 lanes to make way for a bike lane astounds me, it's like playing Frogger on there at the best of times.

Re: Things that make you laugh
In all honesty, I don't think I'd cart my basket of Sol along any of those roads.
I did ride from Prospect to Smithfield one day all along Main North Road, there's a couple scary bits along that trip.

You'd be whacking a fair bit of time on your journey as most of them are main arterial roads, but at least you'd get there hey.Dutchy wrote:You would avoid most of those roads if you could, all of them would have bike paths nearby or at the very least quieter back streets
