Be great if happened but doubt the league will be smart enough to do it.The Bedge wrote:C5:

Mawson Lakes have had big numbers on the track, so don't believe the rumour they're struggling.holdy2323 wrote:Anyone know more info on these 2 clubs?ROUNDTHETRAPS wrote:Have heard both Mawson Lakes and Mitchell park with seriously low registrations

In theory it sounds good, but logistically it's probably a nightmare - especially when you start considering those clubs with Women and how they're impacted.holdy2323 wrote:Be great if happened but doubt the league will be smart enough to do it.

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League - Division 7
Interesting year ahead - not sure Smithfield / Brahma will be as strong as Ingle Farm / Houghton were last season. Mawson Lakes with a few from Gaza I've heard - whether or not that's enough to close the gap I don't know.
Flinders Uni were up and about early last year, if they've held their squad together then who knows what could happen, whilst both Mitchell Park and Hackham featured enough match winners to challenge sides at times but not consistently enough.
Para Hills have added to an already impressive squad, and with Asfaha in the side they now have a genuine ruck. They'll take some beating for sure.
OSB / Lonsdale - that's my tip for the other GF spot though.. lot of chat about Brahma and their recruits, but the Sullies were one side we were very cautious of last year, they've got a great blend of youth and experience.. it'll really be a matter of if they can keep fit and on the park, and not start the season slow.
As always, with all divisions and clubs though, lot rests on the depth internally - those with C grade sides tend to fair better than those without, and those with a strong B grade will almost certainly always have a competitive A grade. Those factors alone put Para Hills further out in front.

Smithfield got up by a point, there was a tribute to Slim who passed away in last weeks truck accident, a big night a head for the club.
HOGG SHIELD DIVISION V WINNER 2018.

What is the deal with all the movement around the Northern clubs. This guy was at Brahma 2 weeks ago and now moves to Smithfield. But it's not just him, it seems that every year 6 to 10 blokes move from the club who gets promoted back to div 7. There has to be more to it than the guys are just mercenaries. As someone who has moved around supporting and coaching at a few Southern clubs is seems laughable that this continues to happen year in year out. At least Para Hills and Ingle Farm have managed to build on what good work they have done but almost every other club in that area probably should have a good hard look at the players they recruit or how they are run. If not, Elizibeth may not be the last club to end up on their knees.

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League - Division 7
Been an issue for a number of years, and a number of factors:
a) Clubs with no or minimal juniors rely on recruits.. to be a contender you need plenty of them.
b) Coaches bring lots of mates
c) Momentum of recruits - you get a few then the rest get on board.
d) The allure of a premiership
e) Some players love being idolised by their peers.
f) Some clubs think the answer is for a quick shot of success - we were lucky last year to win, but it wasn't our main objective going into the year, it was to build something sustainable, just like Para Hills who are flying.
In that Northern 'burbs area, all the clubs are within a stones throw of each other and probably all related.. old mate gets a coaching job or moves, and then others follow.

I get that bedge, but it doesn’t seem to happen in other areas as much. I can’t remember the last a grader we lost or gained from Mitcham who is 1km up the road

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League - Division 7
I think over the years especially down main North road the clubs are so connected when it comes to player movement sometimes it's laughable maybe it's a culture thing who knows, like bedge said Ingle Farm, Para Hills are the only two clubs in div6-7 that are really building to create a culture where it doesn't matter about big recruits they will attract players across all grades, Brahma lodge trying to snag another Divvy7 flag with Money, Para Hills just rolling on from a (top 3 2023) finish, Smithfield gaining momentum will know alot more after Hackham interesting times ahead that's for sure.
