Last weekend:
Qualifying Finals:
Henley (1st) v Brighton (3rd)
Golden Grove (2nd) v Hectorville (6th)

Elimination Finals:
Unley (4th) v Port Districts (5th)
Plympton (7th) v Edwardstown (8th)
No idea, 8 team comp and they all make the finals, Henely undefeated minor round and lose first final then out
If they wanted all 8 teams in and all elimination games surely it would've been 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5 like every knock out tournament in the world

No, Henley and GG both won on the weekend, so they appear to have the weekend off. This weekend is:

Hectorville (6th) v Plympton (7th)
Brighton (3rd) v Port Districts (5th)

Unley (4th) and Edwardstown (8th) knocked out.

Plympton (7th) could make a Prelim Final by beating 8th (on forfeit) and 6th in their 2 finals.

@Bedge I see you're taking an extended squad to theU14 Boys GF today. Lucky the opposition Club allowed that to happen.....not all Clubs offer the same courtesy!

As far as I’m concerned it’s kids footy - and for some may be the only opportunity / highlight of their jnr footy life, play them all whether you win or lose you deserve that opportunity to experience the occasion.

Glenunga I think had 25 avail, but we couldn’t match that numbers

Super proud of this team! Coached half the kids for last two years, watched them since U6’s when my daughters started.. had difficulties last two seasons, following a tough U12 season lost half the side (the “good” kids) to other clubs looked like not fielding an U13’s last year but soldiered on - despite the negativity from some parents.

This year again doubts around fielding a side, made the call to merge the 13’s and 14’s - again to the disgruntlement of a few - but I was confident the 13’s kids I’d coached would be more than capable of stepping up.

Handed the reigns to a young A grade premiership player Cody, and he was helped by our B grade captain Jordan. Was a great moment for their family with his young brother playing and mum team manager.

It’s been a journey for them, I’m glad to see them get the rewards they deserved yesterday, and for coming through some difficult times over recent years.

Why do finals bring out the worse in junior parents and players. You get the likes of MoP carrying on the like a pork chop with fixturing and allegations of club nepotism within the admin of SANFL Juniors. I mean seriously MoP - get over it. There are all sorts of factors that go into finals fixturing in the SANFL Juniors and the best attitude to pass onto players and parents is let the league do their job and as a club we will concentrate on preparing the team to play at whatever ground and time they allocate us.

But this is nothing compared to the behaviour of a club at St Mary's on Sunday. Couldn't handle getting beaten in their U16 Prelim Final and reports of parents and team officials arguing amongst each other. Abuse of league & ground officials and umpires that led to an off-duty copper being forced to flash his badge to get control. Abuse and threats to players from another club about to start the next game. Damage to changerooms after the game. Basically a bloody disgrace from what I've been told and quite an intimidating environment for others at the venue. The club apparently already had some sort of good behaviour bond hanging over their head from last season.

How do they have 7 permit players? What is a permit issued for?

I used to laugh umpiring junior finals, it's when nan and pop would get the Kingswood out and go watch little Johnny for the first time for the season, no shit, the older folk actually think that yelling abuse out to the umpire is a part of spectating. I have a permanent smile on my face and I never get irate so it made it even nicer when I paid a free kick against their team near them and gave a little indication that the free kick was especially for them.

Had a giggle Sunday in the game before ours - bit of niggle in the match, couple free kicks and adults in the crowd "You're a effin d*ckhead number xx"

Then a kid got a red (after being dropped and taunted behind play) and the crowd erupted in cheers.

Like seriously, 13 year old boys and you feel the need to carry on like that.

Special permit would be due to a dual registration with their League club. But I think you'll find DTH was talking about the game prior?

Yeah, if you're in a development squad, you register with your SANFL club for the season, but can play on permit for your local club

You keep riding your high horse, DTH.

Much like the AFL, the SANFL Juniors put the fix into fixtures. If you think they're not Henley-centric, you're deluding yourself.

Their messaging around finals programming was inaccurate and contradictory. Consistency and transparency is all I want. Don't say ONLY the Top team will get a home final in week 2, when that's not the case. Don't say BOTH finals of a grade will be played at the same venue, when that's not the case. At the end of the day, they hide behind Clause 8.5.1 All matches shall be played at such grounds as determined by SANFL Juniors Competition Management. So, just say that from the start instead of that other bullsh!t.

Or allow a player who has only played three games during the season play finals, im sure there was a meeting where it was said you had to play the minium amount of games to be able to play finals!

From last year, but it says 5 game is the minimum (page 19).

Exemptions can be for injury or religion, too.

And this rule is wonderfully ambiguous:
8.6.2.3. A player/team has extenuating circumstances that have prevented the player/team from
fulfilling finals qualification requirements.
