Cree to Dublin.
Enfield still haven't opened rego's for this season - increasingly unlikely to have a senior side by the looks.

Re: PDCA
Credit to Dublin always managing to attract good quality cricketers each year even with how far away they are.
Probably reflects on the current players/members out there, doing a great job keeping themselves competitive

If he was half smart he'd go out and play at Virginia.no_remorse28 wrote:At what point does Bedgebad step in and save Enfield again.
They have a decent canteen, huge meals on Thursdays and Saturdays, they provide lunches, they don't mind shouting rounds, he'd get his 10-15 overs each week in tandem with Nato, he'd open the bat with Bas or come in 7 or 8, straight trip down Port Wakefield Road for his missus to come and collect him on a Saturday night.

Re: PDCA
When will PDCA see the light and fold or merge with ATCA… Salisbury/Playford council should spend some money and put turf wickets in. There’s clearly issues in PDCA - will Eastern Park still be capable in grade 1 without their big dog Ben Mc?
Salisbury West are premiers again.

Re: PDCA
I think a big issue is the outlay for turf squares, its quite significant to install and then maintain especially over the first 3 years.
What is the main issues clubs face in PDCA, as an outsider, from an ATCA club, id be curious to know what the major issues faced are

Never is the answer.Whatsfordinner wrote:When will PDCA see the light and fold or merge with ATCA… Salisbury/Playford council should spend some money and put turf wickets in. There’s clearly issues in PDCA - will Eastern Park still be capable in grade 1 without their big dog Ben Mc?
Salisbury West are premiers again.
Blokes like playing hard wicket because the subs are cheaper and they get to play more weeks than the turf comps.
Clubs like hard wicket as it is low upkeep costs.
You could only imagine what sort of pitches would be produced if it was left up to the clubs or the council had to incur the costs of them, there is not only the initial install, they would have to employ several more groundskeepers to maintain them. I would imagine that there are at least 30 grounds in use each week, many are used Friday night. Saturday morning and afternoon and then again on Monday nights, even more if they were to go to the ATCA.
Participation numbers have dropped over the years but having 8 divisions last season would hardly call for a crisis meeting, the standard has obviously dropped over the years but then again the overall interest in cricket has declined dramatically over the years.
If Eastern Park are going around again in Grade 1 this season they will still be competitive, it's obviously Salisbury West's comp and everyone else is just living in it. Virginia, Angle Vale and Eyre Royals will put up some good efforts along the way but I can only see it being a 6 team Grade 1 comp..............unless they make SD play in it and keep ATCO there.

Re: PDCA
People also like the locality of hard wicket comps being (generally) quite central / local.. if ATCA absorbed PDCA then that travel likely significantly increases and becomes a barrier.

Grade 1 was brilliant for travel last season, every club within 15 minutes of each other. The Bedge wrote:People also like the locality of hard wicket comps being (generally) quite central / local.. if ATCA absorbed PDCA then that travel likely significantly increases and becomes a barrier.

Re: PDCA
The main issue is the association is trying to keep everyone happy. They need to make a decision, right or wrong on the format of their competition and run with it.no_remorse28 wrote:I think a big issue is the outlay for turf squares, its quite significant to install and then maintain especially over the first 3 years.

Few clubs want to play Two day Cricket, many clubs want to play Limited Overs Cricket and there isn’t a viable alternative competition to move to. PDCA still treat Grade 1 as their Premier comp selecting Teams of the years and McKenzie medal from this grade but a good chunk of their best cricketers are playing LO’s. There isn’t a Pathway for Two day clubs to bring Juniors through B Grade cricket playing a similar format of Cricket.
I think they should move to all Limited Overs, make LO1’s the Premier grade and enforce promotion and relegation throughout the grades. Reset the comp so to speak, Clubs playing A grade teams, B Grades playing B Grades, those clubs playing Grade 1 at the minute to take first preference in LO1’s and then Units and Dublin to fill the vacant slots. Filter this down LO2’s etc. and within time it will sort itself out, pretty harsh for teams 5th grades to be playing teams 2nds. If North Pines do fold as they can’t hold an AGM and/or Eastern Park struggle to pull the players with Ben’s move and PJ’s injury, there may be 2 more teams to filter in.
If the clubs want variety and a fresh feel, could also run a T20 comp within the season, maybe group into pools and only have one grade for each team playing in this competition? Maybe Country, Playford And City or something. That way Smithfield and Eastern Park may have played each other last year in a T20 comp but playing different grades in terms of LO comp.
Lets do it for a year and see how it is, if it is no good we revert back to the two formats again, or the association enforces two day and Limited Over cricket, but at least we could say we tried, we listened, we learnt.
There is no alternative comp to defect to, Barossa and ATCA aren’t Viable options for clubs, Churches defunct and Suburban is a hike for clubs North of Grand Junction Road. 1 Season of pain to reset the comp, make it happen.

Re: PDCA
If there was an appetite for a club to goto turf, Argana Park has a great deck just wasting away… location suitable for ATCA and BLGA..
Eastern Park will goto Lo1. They have done their jail time when they battled thru that Grade 1 season getting flogged and then going ok in Grade 1 last year, so they get the free pass to Lo1.
If Grade 1 has to go back to 6 teams or a bye the comp needs to look at merging in somewhere to survive.
