It has been 6 in the past, looking at historical photos, when they use the far east/west wickets for BBL it is a very short boundaries as it is, my only guess is the 2 new ones will be used for bowler warm ups and/or community cricket when played at the ground.

He probably thought he was a chance to be picked this series

Why are we wasting our time opening with Bancroft and Harris for Australia A?
Both have proven over and over that they aren’t good enough.
Just let Konstas and McSweeney do it and get them some experience

Agree, just makes it more fascinating as to who they will choose. Looking forward to seeing what happens in the A game.

Then why bother picking them?
Just put them in the “Never again” pile and play guys like Hunt

I don't get it either, it's like they pick them hoping that they fail.

They would know what their XI would look like already barring injuries.

Probably because at any minute suddenly a blokes in a rich vein of form and doesn't look like getting out.
At first class level it can be one good knock and you're away.
Ride the confident wave.
These guys are all good bats so unless they aren't decent blokes stick with them.
Youth isn't always the answer.

It's only a year extension, had a four year deal initially when he started in 2022. Had a good tenure so far, interesting to see how he navigates the team through a transitional phase once Lyon, Khawaja, Smith, Starc, Marsh and Hazlewood retire.

If McSweeney has a good match, is a chance for the Aussie side this summer?
