Cafe here in town has just closed down, another probably will too now after the incident in the city over the weekend. now this one.
Power and unreliable staffing are the two main culprits

V Hotel.

Ordered the 300g scotchie with surf n turf, they got my plate mixed up and alerted me just after I had cut one piece (delivered the 300g rump s'n't instead), they asked me what I wanted to do and I said "I'd prefer to have my scotch fillet" they then offered me to have both then the idiot next to me said "He said he wanted his scotch fillet" so they took the rump away as they put down the scotchie.

The GF and i always order separate dishes and then half them, she ordered to salt and pepper squid, it was huge and absolutely sensational.

My only gripe is something I will rectify next time, the serve too many chips, I'm not much of a chip fan but I will order a side of gravy next time.

Overall 8.5.

Mandarin Coin (Northeast Road).

GF suggested takeaway, I said we should just dine.

The prices are a bit higher dining in but the serves are larger and the owner even pointed out that dining in is a better experience and that he will look after us even better next time.

Special Fried Rice was OK, it's hard being satisfied after experiencing the House of the Red Dragon's SFR. ($14 for extra large)
Satay Chicken entree: Very nice and well worth it. ($10 for 3 sticks)
Mongolian Fillet Beef: Amazing taste, meat was tender as can be. ($25.50)
Chicken Chop Suey: Tasted good,I was disappointed once the GF ordered it as it has too many vegies for it's price IMO ($26)

You get a basket of complimentary prawn crackers once seated too, they didn't say a word the whole time though.

I'll definitely be returning, after seeing the MFB I'm sure the GF will order something a little more hearty next time too.

8.5 once again.

I had a good day on the punt so that's why we went, stopped in at the Grove on the way home where I put $15 in the "Big Red" pokie and took out $250 so went home after that, followed up yesterday with turning my last $3 in my Sportsbet account into $330 for afternoon while breaking in my new spit with a 2kg lamb yiros, I can't wait to host something big to have the smoker, the Weber, the spit and BBQ all cooking something each in tandem! Life Goals!!

I've had the smoker doing ribs with apple wood and the spit with yiros over coals going together.

It's an erecting aroma.

Before using the smoker/weber, make sure you rub your meat well

Helps get the flavours infused into it....

Worked a treat with the piece of scotch fillet we whacked on the weber last Sunday.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Do it a couple of days before and let it rest in your fridge.

I inject my piece of meat with a concoction my Greek mate advised me to get the Yiros flavour.

Yes been there a few times over the last couple of years cholesterol permitting. I've never complained. Schnitzels are comparable in size to the big ones you can get at the Coopers Alehouse/Earl of Aberdeen on Hurtle Square (I think 600g?).

The OG does a schnitty & pint deal for $20, they're a decent size, especially for the price.

I had one thought playing on my mind......................how big must the chicken have been?
