They'll go with Webster, its the only option that gives them a chance to bring Khawaja back when fit. They have the team balance excuse.
If they go with Inglis and he gets runs its career over for Usman

I think it will be Inglis.
They still get the option to bring Khawaja back if Head or Weatherald fail at the top although I think his career is over at test level.

Former English test player Robin Smith found dead age 62 in Perth after his struggles with alcohol and depression.
Only last week he had caught up with his former teammates Gooch and Gower at the Perth test and then a couple of days later he was a guest speaker at the English Lions tour game

Renshaw
Weatherald
Labuschagne
Smith
Head
Green
Carey
Webster
Starc
Boland
Doggett
Naturally I'd take Cummins over Doggett if he's deemed fit, as good as Head was in the 2nd dig @ Perth I can't see him being able to achieve that consistently with a new nut on a seaming GABBA deck mid-evening, as muxh as I don't like Renshaw he has earnt his stripes and we need to find a long term opener.
Add Cummins to the list I submitted and we bat very deep, it's obvious that we've struggled for runs over the past few years and our bowlers have kept us at the top, we have the best of both worlds IMO.
Those calling for Inglis' recall, he's played one shield game for 32 runs this season, aren't we about rewarding red ball form? I'd take Handscomb, Ward, Clayton, Hearne or even Boof Jnr before him.
Hopefully we win the first 3 tests and then experiment for the future in the dead rubbers.

I like it, sadly though given they haven't changed the squad, you'd have to think it'll be Head to open and Inglis at 5.Lightning McQueen wrote:Renshaw

Realistically it looks like Inglis in at 5 but not sure how he has jumped the queue a tad. Webster very unlucky. Renshaw very unlucky based on current form.

Inglis made 125 not against the Lions at Lilac Hill. I expect him to bat 5.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Would be a terrible move to play him.

Squad schmod, you lose an opener from the squad you replace them with an opener.
CA is always so confident that they'll back Haed in to open again, I'll still support the decision and hope he carves it up.

I get your point re Renshaw but CA have nailed their colours to the amst with the squad and yes I want Head to succeed again.
