It's a tough one but first in best dressed IMO.. although I wouldn't be turning any kid away - full or not.
I would be giving local kids the priority, especially if there was new facilities from local council and government funded for the community.
Kids outside the area should be at one of their local clubs.
What's "the area" though? SANFL juniors clubs aren't zoned.
Lefevre Peninsula.

I understand there is no zoning which could be tricky in some areas with how close clubs are to each other.
Its only natural that new facilities and senior team success is going to attract people to the club.

Seems the in thing in clubroom design is 2 storey with tiered seating to watch the game.

Aren't Portland in line for a new build soon too? What about North Haven?

Heater. Portland and North Haven don't have the required age group and Port District are the closest club that do. Nothing to do with success.

It's all done online these days though - you can't really stop it.. and as a club, you cant sit back and wait hoping that some locals are going to sign up - you have to try and fill your sides.

If they had to register interest etc first then yeah prioritise kids in the hood.

This is why clubs like Golden Grove only send out rego links exclusively to returning players to begin with, before they bother opening it up to the world - otherwise they'd get a massive influx no doubt.

Our Clubrooms were renovated last summer and were opened before that start of the 2025 footy season. On going renovations including changerooms renovation/upgrade is on the to do list aswell I believe.
