For mine, especially in a final.

Win the toss and bat first.

Eh shit happens.. not sure would've made huge difference - if we batted first we probably would've gone at a slower rate anyway building an innings. They already had it planned to stack the boundary and deny us boundaries.

Reality is, we just needed to get through the top 3 and would've been laughing.. we didn't. They won. That's life.

carey wrote:On the cricket from the weekend, I’ve honestly never seen anything like it, the ending anyway.

In the semi against Andrews Farm, their opener came out swinging from ball one and took the attack right up to us. He made 90-odd off not many balls at all and they were about 100 after 11-12 overs, looking well on their way to posting 300+.

However, once the opener and their number three were dismissed in back-to-back overs, they seemed to go into their shell a little and we were able to drag things back. In the end they were all out for 204, a great result after the first 10 overs.

Our run chase didn’t get off to the best start either. Our leading run scorer for the year (1000+ runs) was dismissed early for 8, and to be fair they bowled really well in the opening overs. We managed to steady though and were 1/62 at drinks.

Long story short, it came down to the wire. We were 6/203 with just 7 balls remaining… only to lose the last four wickets for no runs and be bowled out for 203 including a Hatrick!

Still trying to wrap my head around it.

Tahana's fault, couldn't hang around for 2 more runs, Dud

Mate, Tahana hit some bloody clean ones, batted really well.

But, Yep, Lets run with that lol [emoji38]
Great game to watch, def got my moneys worth and even got a signed pick with Carey. Never seen so many momentum swings in a game.

The div 1 game was an epic arm wrestle too.
Virginia well on top early with Westies 2/2, Wardy and Jakey then out on 108 and were pushing the run rate up when Jake was dismissed. Westies lost 3/2 when Parkhouse came to the crease while Wardy was hitting them wellon his way to 77, Westies then lost 5/14 to finish up with 161.
Shaun Lay got Virginia off to a good start then when he went the home side was 3/70 and marginally ahead, Al Leo teamed up with Johnny and things were looking sweet until Johnny feathered one behind to be 5/113, another wicket 2 balls later and it's was game on with Westies doing Westie things.
Nato then took to Willi in the 36th over to smash 19 off of it, a few quick wickets and they were 9/159 with the live scoring being out from the from 1st innings, there was a no-ball missing so the actual score was 161 not 160.
Classic Grade 1 game where it ebbed and flowed, I expect this week to be the same with at least one change to the Virginia line up, I can only asssume AV will remain the same.
