No surpirses that North have been so good. Anyone that thinks they won't win the premiership and lose another game is kidding themselves. Until the other clubs can catch up financially then it will stay like that. A bit harsh to include players like Wakerlin and Schubert, its good recruiting that they are at North not financial. A fair number of them are only there for the money but thats been discussed many times. Good luck to them and who can blame them.
As Punky was alluding to if you can get things right off the field then why not. I wish my club was in the financial position North are. Unfortunatly we will be on the end of a thrashing this week and but thats life, until the SANFL get themselves into gear over the salary cap. Good luck to North I say, the other clubs have to catch up.

Nah, no envy, good luck to North (and thanks to Gerard for going guarantor on a loan) too considering where they have come from in the past 3 years, but reserve the right to hang shit on them. Australian tradition always try to bring your mates down a peg or two when they start getting ahead of themselves...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Did Rob Gerrard go guarantor on a loan for you 1980 Wrinkles? Very generous man isn't he! I believe he has also done the same for North (disclaimer: I wouldn't actually know). But is there anything wrong with that? Envy again, perhaps? I reckon we've got a spare seat up the front for you, on the North Adelaide bandwagon. I believe you've jumped shipped before....

oh well waiting 19 years for a premiership i would freak also
jeez in that time my beloved maggies have plenty of premierships
I remeber reading stories about Tim Evans, David Grainger, Dexter Kennedy, Stephen Clifford, Stephen Curtis, how they used to get their duffle coats out each saturday morning & catch the train to Alberton to watch their beloved Magpies...

the reality is that all clubs have to recruit. Some just do it better than others (re North v Glenelg for the Nick Gill Cup, North v Norwood for the Leigh Ryswyck Cup...).
Look at Aussie Rules today- the AFL is the top tier, SANFL 2nd, VFL/WAFL 3rd & 4th etc so what you have, is 640 players in the AFL system, approx 360 in the SANFL etc & so on, so players are grouped according to ability & opportunity, so really, if you have a player at your club that come up through the junior ranks, & was good enough for SANFL, yet not good enough for AFL, then you've had a big win, as I think you'd find this to be the exception, rather than the rule. This is also why Barrrie Robran left Whyalla & joined North- opportunity.
Let's face it, the way society functions today, people barely talk to their neighbours, yet will drive 1/2 to see friends. The players & clubs have a similar train of thought.
When Ron Barrassi crossed from Melbourn to Carlton, that signalled the end of clubs being full of home grown heroes.
Take a look around the SANFL clubs- West, South, Port, North, WWT (probably all clubs) have the same/similar ratio of home grown to imports. The quality of the player at the club is what stands out, hence the envy shown currently towards North- North have recruited, but they've also recruited smarter.

u can buy a premiership but u cant buy tradition
Without looking to far back our last 2 premiership coaches played football for North and won premierships as coaches after stopping playing for North Adelaide.
(Mick Nunan and Mike Patterson)
Ken Farmer was probably our best coach of all time and he won 2 premierships as coach.
P.Lewis was a premiership coach and was an ex North player as was A.H. Klose
Jack Macarthy is the only premiership coach of North in my memory that hadn'nt played at the club.
So bascially 12 of the 13 premierships were coached by a person who had played football as a player for North Adelaide at one stage or another.
(Our first 3 premierships were when there was no coach and you could say the Captain (and player) was the coach)

As the saying goes, "it is better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're stupid, than to open it and remove all doubt". I let you figure out why your comment removes all doubt dinglinga.
GOLD comment RR.
I think dongadanga needs to go back to school and repeat grade 1 maths.

How is that relevant? A Premiership is a Premiership. No one cares who coached it, as long as you get one.
Mike Patterson coached North to the Champions of Australia in 1972- does the fact that he's not North born & bred make that a lesser feat?
Btw, Fos Williams, your greatest coach, was a West Adelaide boy...
