I was at the Footy Show on Saturday Morning with my wife and kids. Thankyou and all concerned for providing the opportunity to attend this function.
We thought you and the co hosts did a wonderful job. The show was well planned, presented and of course entertaining. It is so good to see that there are people prepared to provide support and invest their resources into keeping our game alive at the SA level. I sincerely hope that you and Channel 31 receive the accolades, support and the funding that you both richly deserve and need to continue next year.
This game of ours gave so much to people in our generation as we were growing up and needs this support to continue in the future. I realise that the SANFL will never be what it was in the 60's, 70's, 80's etc but there is no reason why we can't preserve what we had and ensure that the game continues with the same spirit. The interest of the youth of today and their enthusiasm must be fostered over the next few years for the survival of SA footy.
It's really up to all of us to promote our game, and you, the co hosts and network are an important catalyst in this process.
It was great to get along to the Show today - make sure you watch it tonight!
The audience participation was great and it was also a great opportunity to meet a few other users - the Westies boys were there in force - something of a wolf pack in fact! Full credit to them, they are a passionate bunch and we shared a few good laughs.
Well down to Chris Kendall and his plethora of panellists and well done to all those who got along to be a part of the audience and to hear some real stories from the panellists in the ad breaks!

A reminder to everyone that it is starting NOW on Channel 31.
Definitely worth watching if you can get the reception - many interesting views from a wide range of panellists - all the big names of the SANFL media were there! (Kendall, Herden, Doug Robertson, Zac Milbank, Darryl Smith, Michael Maney, Doug Oakley, Jon Symonds, John Nankivell etc...) plus interviews with Brett Backwell and Damien Squire.
It was disappointing though that there were only around 30 people from the whole SANFL community in the audience. People always go on about the lack of media coverage of the SANFL, but what do you expect when hardly anyone can be bothered turning up to what was the biggest media event of the year in the SANFL
I don't think it gives the journalists/broadcasters etc. a lot of motivation to put out quality products in the future...

Good call Ecky. I think there were 80 tickets sold but even so, where was everyone? Not a single eagles supporter was there yet 10 westies folk rocked up. Those who were there created a great atmosphere and some of the commercial break periods were priceless!
Full credit to all those supporters who made it, especially from those clubs who are not represented in the finals. As I have said earlier, no eagles and no port supporters. A great advertisement for their clubs. It would also be good if Jarman would have appeared during the year - maybe a petition would get him there?

To be truthful I thought it was sold out or close to it the way Chris kept advising people to get tickets quickly.
I couldn't make it to Thebarton ro pre-purchase tickets and wasn't aware of if you could by them at the show and if the show was sold out or not.
In the end I probably could have made it but didn't feel like driving all the way to town just to have to come back again if it was sold out before making another trip to near town at 1pm for another engagement.
I think there would have been a lot of people in the same boat as me, perhaps a bit clearer communication next year might improve numbers?
I would have at least brought 2 kids along too. Maybe up to a dozen friends if I knew there was plenty of tickets left too.
Being so close to the Magarey didnt help either when you consider a lot of us didn't get to bed on Thursday night (Mouse included)!
Now I remember what I was going to get up for on Saturday morning. Would have prefered to see this than do housework I ended up doing. Its also a pity I cant tune in to watch it.
Good stuff Chris & co, enjoyed the show and the GF highlights this morning. Well done!

(probably a lout)... was that dude John Symonds (or was it Tony)..good looking well dressed bloke on the 1st panel, think he now works for Life FM... did he used to play for Glenelg in the 80's would be interested to know 'cause he looked wayyy familiar.. also that Todd Wellington.. is he a past SANFL player also? any response greatly appreciated

It was Jon Symonds, brother of Tony. He played for Glenelg and South in the 90's (don't have exact details on me, sorry). I don't know Todd Wellington's background, but I don't think he played SANFL.

My deepest thanks to all of you who made the effort to come on Saturday morning and support this production. Despite the early start, it was wonderful to see such enthusiasm for the event from those who attended. Warmest congratulations to the very voiciferous Westies supporters who really got right into things, but it would be otherwise unfair to single out any one group - everyone made a great contribution on the day from the audience.
I noted one point on this forum about it not being clear about ticket sales; however, would direct to this post a few days prior: "Yes, you can buy tickets at the door on the morning however - doors open 8.15am. The bar will be open also but obviously, we want people to have a lot of fun, make plenty of noise but be responsible at the same time", so every effort was made to make it very clear that tickets were available on the morning. This will be the case next year also - PROVIDED the league and the clubs support the production financially. The continuity of the show will rely upon their financial support and I believe there is a certain responsibility to support the ONLY show on Adelaide TV that is ENTIRELY and COMPLETELY dedicated to SANFL, outside of the ABC-TV broadcast.
To the panellists during the year: Phil Herden, John Nankivell, Darryl Smith, Dennis Browne (5RPH); Doug Oakley, Jon Symonds (Life FM), Zac Milbank, Doug Robertson (The Advertiser), Michael Maney (ABC-TV), Ben Hook (Sunday Mail), Rob Douglas and Todd Wellington (coming to a comedy club near you!), Peter Argent (SANFL Photographer/Writer), Damian Squire (dual Magarey Medallist) and Chris Andrews (footysa.com); my warmest thanks and appreciation to all of you for taking the time, giving up Saturday and Sunday mornings, to share your passion and expertise for OUR SANFL. Your hard work and friendship has been very greatly appreciated.
To all the people who have taken the time to email, phone, SMS and come up for a chat at the grounds, and to come to the show Saturday morning - thank you also for taking the time to do so. It has been a true pleasure bringing you the show, and it is great to know that many, many passionate SANFL fans out there want to see this product.
To Wedgie (safooty.net) and Chris Andrews (footysa.com) - guys, without your willingness to publicise things on the respective sites, it would have made the job a lot harder, and it is truly appreciated.
To the SANFL coaches: Roy Laird, Ron Fuller, Wayne Weidemann, Robert Pyman and Brenton Phillips, all of whom were prepared to give up their time to help promote SANFL, many thanks. I should say that, at some stage during the year, all clubs were asked about having their coach on, and to some that were unable to and let me know, your business courtesy was appreciated nonetheless. All players that took the time to (special mention to Brett Backwell for coming in on Sat. morning with next to no sleep!) come in - many thanks also.
There are many, many people behind the scenes at C31 that ensured a quality product was on the air by 12pm Sundays each week, and for anyone that saw the show being made, there was the odd time the line was very fine for getting there on time, but we got there!
I don't want this to sound like I'm about to break into "That's What Friends Are For", but there are many others to thank who I may have forgotten at this time, but believe me, your assistance and help was invaluable also.
I hope to bring you, the fans "Total SANFL" again in 2007 - let's all get behind the clubs and league for supporting this!
