Lyon had a couple of expensive overs but I thought be bowled ok. Took 2 wickets on the first day of a test match on a deck that favoured seamers.

Dead right Brodlach! After his first over (and we were getting spanked) I didn't see much chop in bringing him on again day one, but Siddle engineered a bit of a collapse, and he was able to bowl to the lower order and redeem himself. Hopefully he can pull a nice performance out in the Saffers second dig!

Bowls some great balls but far too many pies. Just because the deck favours seamers it doesnt excuse him from bowling full tosses and half trackers. He can become a good bowler if he tightens up a bit

Bowls some great balls but far too many pies. Just because the deck favours seamers it doesnt excuse him from bowling full tosses and half trackers. He can become a good bowler if he tightens up a bit

Your right Jim but as mentioned he has only played 5 teams and probably 10 first class games. He will improve alot.

I thought a few of the saffer batters played like millionaires and got a bit cocky, at least one of them should have gone on with it. Thought Kallis was going to make a biggie but he was out to a soft dismissal. Thought Siddle was the differance, he ignited the fightback. Cant believe he was the one who was going to be dropped

Soft dismissals were Amal, kallis, prince, devilliers, Boucher, morkel. Others were good bowling.
Still a good effort by the aussies

Yeah some questionable shots played throughout the innings
Some players , I dont have a problem with playing thier shots
Amla, Devilliers play shots and can look ordinary when dismissed
The 2 players I would be scathing with would be Prince and particularly Kaliis

PRINCE
Prince should be grinding away , which is probably his best method of making runs
He should not think he is Viv Richards and play billionaire shots, like his dismissAL shot in this test

Kallis is the one I would give a rocket to
Heez averaged 55+ for about a decade in Tests
But these days is suffering from Haddinitis
Fair dinkum his first innings disMissALs this series have been deplorable
He needs to become the backbone of this team not the enforcer
With a Watsonless attack, his game plan tactic should have been to grind the bowlers down and cash in at a later stage oF his innings

Watto will open, he was ready to go out last night but South Africa wouldn't use their slow bowlers in the bad light so play was called off (obviously no point wasting a new ball on part time spin).

Lyon bowled very well, 2/50 on a first day is great figures for any spinner. Clarke only bowled as spin was the only option due to light. People whinge about Krejza being too expensive and Hauritz for bowling too flat, give Lyon a chance.

Last 6 fell for 25 runs. Great catch in there as well by Cummins. Load up on Australia highest 1st innings partnership and Hughes first out.

Interesting to note, Kallis has averaged 77 since the start of 2009 in test cricket. Amazing effort at his age, plus his bowling adds even more

I saw a bit of the cricket last night, mainly because I wanted to watch Cummins bowl and I really enjoyed watching him. He jumps around a bit but has a bit of zip about him and being so young he will only get better. From what I saw of him bowling to Kallis, he did hurry the great man up a little bit and bowled a few pearlers at him. Good on them for letting him open the bowling and well done to him for getting his first test wicket.
