Pakis wanted the pitch prepared so that Day 1 was a day 3 or 4 pitch. Should start breaking up badly in the next couple of days and should be very difficult come day 5, could be a tricky final day

I agree with this, now has his average nearing 47-48 this is really solid. If he can keep this up he will end up a very solid player in Australian Cricket history.

I reckon there's a difference between being very solid and one of the greats - there's a rung or two difference.

As an example:

Steve Waugh, one of the greats.
Damien Martyn, very solid.

probably the most destructive batsmen we have had since gilchrist, or hayden and could go down as an even better batsman than them if he keeps this up.

on the coverage last night, they showed the strike rates of cricketers in the last 10 years (or something like that) with a qualifier of 1000 runs, and warner was so far out in front it wasnt funny. something like 75%, clarke was second on 60 odd, and the rest were in the 50s. ill see if i can regenerate the table in stats guru

Very solid but not quite a great, I was more agreeing that he has become such a dominant player of late.
No reason he wont surpass Langer who I also have in the solid category. I could see him with around 20 test tons by the time he is finished, thus making him very solid.
