This is where the selectors have me baffled.
McSweeney captain? If they've made that call, how on earth is Lehmann in the playing squad?
Daniel Drew is sitting with the 4th most runs in the competition and the most for SA this season. Averaging 64 at strike rate 94 in the period leading up to Christmas batting at first drop.
Yes, he's had a shocking run in the Shield and was dropped for the last game before Christmas and not picked against Vic last weekend, which is probably fair enough. However, he was the 2nd highest Shield run scorer last year behind Bancroft.
He's hitting form for West Torrens - having scored a century last weekend on the back of runs in the T20 Final and the OD semi Final. I wonder if the selectors even bother watching?
Surely he is a player you want in good form, playing for South Australia and surely this is an opportunity to get him back in the Redbacks scoring runs.
I do think they should back in Kelly and I'm glad Winter gets a chance. Hopefully he isn't just there to mix cordial.
Agree Aerie, Redbacks treating him appallingly!
Think he made 84 for Redbacks in his last One day cup match That deserves to be dropped!
Ridiculous non-selection. Besides Tim Nielsen (even though they claim he isn't one but we all know he controls everything), who are the selectors?

Looks bowler heavy

Winter is looking very ordinary so far, middled one ball. Has ridden his luck. Edging everything for four. Hopefully he settles down soon.

Maybe Winter could have opened as that's his best spot. Drop Hunt. Drew at 3.
Have no issue with Winter getting picked, thoroughly deserved it. Don't think dropping someone who made 84 last innings is pretty fair though.
PS Winter chose not to accept Redbacks contract as went back to studying Commerce, he is not moving interstate.
Wow - Conway at 9. We are crap! Any chance of Gillespie taking some responsibility with selections? Sadly, when you have board members who are delusional by saying the cricket department are doing a great job, no wonder we keep getting these performances. We pretty much need everything going our way to be at least half competitive. Being sent in on 2 greentops this week hasn't helped either.

Agre with JIM05, starting to think he is not up to it unfortunately.
Agree. But at least we are giving him a go to find out and not just guessing here.
it's his first game
Unfortunately for Tom though the colour of the ball or amount of overs played in the game isn’t changing how he gets out so cheaply. I really hope he proves me wrong and goes on to be a good player at this level.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.
