Didn't notice it last night when I got home due to it being dark, but at some stage yesterday the tree at the front of my property has been significantly pruned. I have no median strip - this tree is on my front lawn.

Does/did it overhang the footpath?

Maybe slightly, but if the council did it why didn't they prune the top which overhangs and is in the power lines? Or even let me know this was going to happen?

BTW, I'm happy it has been done...

If it's a hazard to road users or creates danger or difficulty to a public place the council can order you to remove or cut it back. I think it's unlikely that the council would do the 'prune the overhanging tree back to fence type thing' that neighbours are entitled to do (if there was sufficient overhang, which it seems like there wasn't). Power lines stuff I think is done by the state government.

Baffling. Maybe you've got a gardener you didn't know you had, or the Jim's franchise empire now has a fascist-based compulsory pruning wing (like the SS).

Every property does, regardless if there is a formal strip or not. My lawn goes all the way to the curb but I am basically maintaining it for the council...its a certain distance from the curb is not classed as your property.

That's what I thought, I remember my neighbour telling me one day that the land between the footpath and my water meter (which lines up with the tree in question) is the council's land. He once suggested I drill a couple of holes in the tree and.....the council would remove it.

We have agapanthus in front of our fence which we planted.
In spring when they flower they go slightly onto the footpath but it’s not a hazard.

Someone prunes these every spring for us.

I assume it’s the council?

Maybe it was because he had Ned Kelly as his lawyer?

I need to know.. why girls/women where pants higher than their belly button that practically sits under their boobs? I knew a special needs boy when i was a kid - that's how he wore his pants too.

There are a range of reasons:

1. Prevents the dreaded “muffin-top.”
2. Comfort of the band sitting at the waist rather than tight on the hips.
3. You don't have to Suck in Your Stomach, the high waisted jeans do the work for you, keeping everything in place.
4. Short chicks love them as they make your legs look longer.
