You're not just a pretty avatar mate, you've gotta feel for those that run the league's, there will be clubs wanting to go ahead, some not, some fence sitters, they can't please everyone.

And this is exactly why all leagues should be cancelled and the decision has to come from those that run football in this state for the best interests of football in this state.
You cant have the haves feasting on the have nots.
There is talk of 3 YP clubs already out, a couple NE clubs out, these are the smaller clubs within their leagues. Comps simply cant be run with some in and some out.
The easiest decision is scrap it all

Taking the easy decision is such a cop out. Football needs to be winner and the goal has to be to keep the game alive in whatever format it is. It will be so much in 2021 if there hasn't been football played for over 12 months. You will lose more players, sponsors, volunteers, clubs and communities!

Agree Days Of Our Lives.
I actually think we will lose more players, sponsors, volunteers & clubs if clubs/leagues are asked to play a shortened season.
The financial cost will still be massive and if restrictions are still in place revenue will be hard to come by.
The strain on volunteers is already massive to add all these protocols and regulations it will deter alot. At least if these protocols are still in next year clubs will have alot more time to plan and get their head around them.

Give everyone the year off - volunteers, players, coaches will be refreshed and 2021 will be a massive year of footy for everyone

My fear is leagues and or clubs who don’t play this season might not have the resources and players to start up again in 2021

In the mean time players and volunteers find new hobbies and are lost from footy.

We need to play

Yep this will happen to the clubs that cant play this year if other clubs are allowed to play. You guys in the city clearly dont get it and its pointless discussing it with you.

But you can play this year. Sanfl is doing everything they can to cut down the financial burden on club. You shouldn’t need your crowds of 1000 to be able to operate in 2020 with the proposed salary cap changes

That won't happen for most country comps, people will always play footy as its the thing to do in those towns. Country clubs will always get players from the city to, money always talks. The issue will be in 2020 there city players won't be coming so might be hard to fill 2 teams. I think it would be good to still play though but a zero salary cap makes it tough on numbers.

Its not just players from the city that are recruited. Its players that have moved to the city for uni etc and are paid a bit of travel money and a little cream on top to keep going back to their local club in the country to keep the club alive.
Far more country blokes end up playing in the city than the other way, another thing the city comps cant get their head around with all their sooking about losing players to the country.
Putting a freeze on clearances would need to happen if footy is to go ahead

Agree with you daisy. Did see a few clearances yesterday for some pretty good footballers going to Salisbury north from country clubs.

Let’s be honest
Country clubs will need to spend $ this year to get teams on the park
Not many want to spend the $ if no $ or much less $ is coming in as would be the case
Players are currently being asked their thoughts, locals are over it and imports won’t do it for nothing

If cap is zero, and crowds are allowed in with Gate/BBQ/Bar/Canteen - all likely to happen - then I think there is a good chance clubs will actually bank a few $'s without player payments, or am I missing something?

Most country clubs have a dozen blokes coming from the city, without these blokes country clubs will struggle to get an As and Bs. No chance blokes will travel to play for free and fair enough really. Hills would be the country comp that might still be alright without payments.

So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

I think you will find its one bloke, with an axe to grind, that does that. The SAAFL keeps stats that show there's a nett influx every year.
Oh, and according to him, they go to the country for the better atmosphere

If leagues such as BLG GSFL SFL and Hills can’t talk there players into into playing 9 games of a career for free then it says allot about the type of guy they are recruiting

If country clubs cannot have crowds , it's not only salary cap issue .Even if zero player payments with no income clubs are really going to struggle with paying costs of fielding teams ie footballs , electricity costs for oval lighting for training , cleaning of jumpers , umpires fees , commercial cleaning of change rooms ( if allowed to use once games start although heard whisper they won't be ) between teams ie U17 , B Grade , A grade and security staff that are going to be needed to monitor if you have allowed number at venue or not . A lot of country clubs will have limited sponsorship this year due to businesses being affected by COVID - 19 so no cowds no income will kill most.

Surely they'll be able to pay at least a petrol allowance for players
