Na, not at all. I keep saying to myself that I'll clean them all up one Sunday but it just doesn't happen. My boss seen me clearing them all up last time it got to 700, he said "I shouldn't be applauding you but that's a great way to clear them out".

I basically do a sort by from, highlight all of their emails, sorta skim through to see if anything in the last week looks important then mark as read and move to their folder.

I bring up in our morning management meeting that we are all too email happy, I received 87 emails yesterday, I hate it when there's an email going back and forth between two people yet they've got the whole world cc'd in on it, I end up interrupting politely asking that they kindly remove my name from their convo.

That used to be me, I'm just too time poor nowadays, basically flat out from 6am-4/5pm, then log back on after 6pm to tidy some stuff up once one of our crews go home.

My previous GM had 87K unreads when I left there, I was looking forward to seeing it click over.

Wait, wait a minute. 87,000 unread emails? They must be automated updates and the like? I get email updates from our freight company when they deliver goods and get a POD, they go into a folder that is mostly unread but sits around 600 or so at the most before I empty it and that's usually every Xmas.

87,000 can't all be bona fide, if they're all important then you don't have a job.
