100% agree, it's got some great Aussie person-to-person banter. Darren Gilshenan (the other cop) is particularly funny IMO, and the scenes with Dan Wyllie and the other crook (name escapes me) are piss funny too.
I'm interested and worried how the American version stands up - I'm not confident, the Yanks have shithouse form in this regard.
Ill give it a crack when ive finished. my bro watched the first 5 mins and said the main guy is putting on a terrible american accent.

some great cameos - sam simmons and tim minchin were both hilarious too - and Rose Byrne has been funny in the first couple of eps of season 2
Sam Simmons was very funny. Damon Herriman and Rose Byrne's interactions are pretty funny too - especially their discussion on "Brexit".

SBS on Demand has been screening a ten-part documentary about the Vietnam War. Compelling viewing (not necessarily always pleasant) if you're a fan of twentieth century history. It looks back at both the on field happenings and the political and social perceptions of the war back in the US.
It's unique in that it interviews participants from the war from US, South Vietnamese, and Viet Cong forces. Their recollections are very honest and sobering, and after watching the whole thing it's hard not to be moved. You also wonder where and why the whole thing went wrong, because there are plenty of candidates.

History channel on Fox running series called "The Eighties" .. so far the eps have covered shows from the decade that made an impact, AIDS and associated movements, the Regan era, technology. Interesting reminders from childhood and also some explanations of things I recall seeing but had no real knowledge of how or why

SBS on Demand made available a similar show on the Nineties, wth each episode dedicated to a particular aspect. If its the same type of production then they’re great viewing, and an interesting walk down memory lane. I don’t have Fox so hopefully it surfaces somewhere soon.

Yeah sounds the same mate .. This one is obviously geared toward a US audience so doesn't cover anything that doesn't involve them, but still interesting. Tom Hanks directs it I think from memory.
Started watching Active Shooter on Stan last night.
Six one hour episodes covering the biggest mass shootings in the US.
I got through the first three, being Aurora, San Bernadino and Charleston.
I've already read a fair bit about all of these cases, but nothing has gone so indepth with the survivors, first responders and nurses. The Aurora one especially is pretty f**ked up.

@HH3, I imagine this series is heavy going? It certainly sounds interesting, but I'm not sure if I could last 6 one hour episodes. By the end of it you must surely put your head in your hands and ask 'why does this shit continue to happen'?

Frontline was very good. "I always keep this in my top drawer to remind me of what we are trying to achieve"....."oh a Banana"......"No a Walkley Award!"
1961, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015.... And don't you forget it!

I watched some more yesterday. It's actually 8 episodes.
In a lot of cases, the first responders can't help people dying on the floor, because their first priority is neutralizing the threat. This is a viewpoint you don't really hear much about. The trauma they suffer is pretty full on too.
