Fud Valente certainly did earn his. Bowled a mountain of overs this past season plus coming of a winter in the UK at the CA scholarship program in Hampshire.

With Nielsen, it was always going to happen, he's played a few games in the 2nd XI, got lucky in the tour game when Seb Gotch was crook the morning of the game and performed.

Lawford the only casualty (Botha and McDonald were obvious).

No new players on list from interstate which is surprising.

Valente earnt his Rookie contract, Neilson also got one (surprise, surprise when Daddy picked them!).

Harry is a good young player, he is still behind Tim Davey and Alex Carey, but he fits the age bracket for a Rookie contract. Did you think anyone else should be there instead of him as the young developing keeper?

IMO Ross is very lucky, Benton also upgraded to a full contract.

I had heard whispers of a few interstate boys but obviously that hasnt eventuated.

Hastings would have been a good fit. Not getting a game behind Siddle Pattinson Boland and Ahmed as their go to attack

30 years old, nope not IMO. Id rather Winter and Valente get a go. Add Chadd Sayers back and our new ball attack looks alot better.

Unlikely. Guessing his Melbourne club will be throwing cash his way that simply no Adelaide based club could match. They paid over $10 K each to two first class standard poms last season.

I thought Callum Ferguson (Tassie) like Zampa was supposedly as good as gone?

Good to see Ferguson staying on.

Sadly I think Jake has his card marked. Don't recall him playing 2nd XI cricket last season either

Not sure he made himself available last year to play higher? Thought he opted out of the Emerging Redbacks squad, and reluctantly played Premier League? Think he just wanted to focus on Kensies

South Australia’s successful Emerging Redback program will welcome in six new players for 2015-16 as the state’s cricket program aims to continue to strengthen its depth at the elite level.

The Emerging Redbacks program is designed to mirror the Redbacks on a reduced scale, with the State’s most talented un-contracted cricketers being invited to join the program which aims to prepare them for the challenges of first-class cricket.

Ben Turley’s inclusion to the squad caps off a breakthrough season for the 20-year old. Awarded the Jason Gillespie Medal for Grade cricket’s rising star, Turley finished equal third in this year’s Bradman Medal and was named in the Grade Cricket Team of the Year. Turley played 12 West End A Grade matches for Woodville this season, claiming 33 wickets including best bowling figures of 5/15 against Northern Districts.

East Torrens captain, Michael Cranmer returns to the Emerging Redbacks squad after another consistent summer. Cranmer lead with the bat for the Eastern Edge in the West End Premier League before finishing his Grade cricket season with 423 runs at an average of 52.88, earning a spot in the Grade Cricket Team of the Year.

Daniel Drew, Spencer Johnson, Ben Williams and John Dalton have also been included following promising performances for South Australia at the Australian U19 Championships.

The Emerging Redbacks program continues to produce quality players, with last year’s squad members Nick Benton, Cameron Valente and Harry Nielsen all offered full-time Redbacks contracts for the upcoming season.

2015-16 Emerging Redbacks Squad
Coach: Shane McDermott

1. Akash Patel Glenelg
2. Alex Carey Glenelg
3. Ben Turley Woodville
4. Ben Williams West Torrens
5. Daniel Drew West Torrens
6. Elliott Opie Kensington
7. Joel Logan University
8. John Dalton Kensington
9. Luke Robins East Torrens
10. Michael Cranmer East Torrens
11. Phil Neate Adelaide
12. Spencer Johnson West Torrens

Any future Shield players here? I don't know much about Logan but saw he had a decent season.

Probably because he still has another 2 years of under 19's left I think.

Both Johnson and Drew are too old for 19's so this is the next squad they put them in.
