Re: Australian International Summer 2024/25
Yes they have, it is because there was ambient noise as it glided along the surface not edged it.............well words to that degree.whufc wrote:Have the makers of Snicko come out and said why the contact wasn't picked up.
Was it because it was a pull shot so potentially furthest distance from wherever the mic is?
Was it because the contact was strong enough, i know it was a slower ball bouncer but still?
Are they holding their ground on there wasn't contact despite the footage?
Surely a third umpire can't use snicko going forward, especially if it's not clear as to why the Jaiswal incident wasn't picked up. That puts doubt in any decision going forward.

Marsh has played a role but his time is up
Let’s hope Webster goes well until Green is fit

Does he go straight into 6 or do you push Carey up to 6, Webster at 7.

For me that tells me that they are worried about Starc’s injury and yet are still going to play him. If/when he breaks down Webster will be used to bowl.amber_fluid wrote:Good callJim05 wrote:Sounds like Bailey overruled Ronnie and the skip.

Webster is the first bloke since Sobers in the SS to score 900 runs and take 30 wickets in a season. No mug with the bat and would just slot into Marsh’s spot at 6whufc wrote:Where does Webster bat.amber_fluid wrote:Good callJim05 wrote:Sounds like Bailey overruled Ronnie and the skip.

Just makes Ronnie look even stupider, why doesn't he just use the "we'll assess the situation and select the team when required" line.Jim05 wrote:Sounds like Bailey overruled Ronnie and the skip.

Declaring someone a certainty and then dropping them just makes them look even more amateur.

Re: Australian International Summer 2024/25
As Simon Taufel said, if there is no clear deflection visible to the 3rd umpire Snicko is next used in the hierarchy of decision making. The fact you can also the index finger of the f glove move as the ball went past the glove is further proof of contact.whufc wrote:Have the makers of Snicko come out and said why the contact wasn't picked up.

Surely a third umpire can't use snicko going forward, especially if it's not clear as to why the Jaiswal incident wasn't picked up. That puts doubt in any decision going forward.
Snicko was only called for as a means to justify what he saw (after he made the call "I can see a deflection"). when snicko was inconclusive (ne clear spike but there were mermers)
All technology has error (as you know reason for the 50% of ball making contact to overturn an LBW not out) so it will be used with confidence to support the decision making process going forward.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Re: Australian International Summer 2024/25
I guess the point i was making was if we didn't know what the issue was what confidence they would have in the circumstance that a not out was given, goes to third umpire, no clear deflection of an edge but snicko shows an edge. Ordinarily that would be given out every time, however if the makers of snicko couldn't give a reason for the non-detection of an edge how sure could we be in the technology that is accurately reading edges at all.am Bays wrote:As Simon Taufel said, if there is no clear deflection visible to the 3rd umpire Snicko is next used in the hierarchy of decision making. Re: Australian International Summer 2024/25
The mistake was made by showing everyone the snicko reading once the 3rd umpire had determined that contact had been made, if no one seen that then there would never have been such an outcry.whufc wrote:

Once a verdict of beyond doubt has been reached there is no point doing any further investigations.
Would we have been hanging shit on the system if the shoe was on the other foot? Probably.
