Brett Backwell has announced his departure at seasons end from Brighton after 4 years.
Hopefully Nathan Grima doesn't follow suit!

It's interesting seeing how there's quite a few Bombers juniors who run around for SHOCS, they were junior powerhouse teams for years.

Understand the lure of playing with school friends, but when I see the likes of Harry Boyle playing for Hearts, I can't understand it.

Shame, extremely impressive bloke and the results obviously speak for themselves. As a football and club person he reminds me of Macca which is as higher praise as I can give anyone.

Tend to think he deserves another shot at higher levels if that's the kind of thing that he's interested in.

Agree, he just needs a break and has kids starting sport etc so wants some more time with family.

Without having directly asked him the question i think you have that the wrong way around. He wins and the job over the last 4 years is done.

Glenunga still relies primarily on max player points per game and at some point the $$$$s dry up and the slide commences....

Sceptical of this. They've become a colussosous of a junior club.

Like Walkerville before them they'll lose plenty to Colleges and Old Coll clubs, but if they manage to hang on to a reasonable percentage of them they'll be competitve for years to come.

Unlike, Walkerville, PNU & Athelstone, we will have to put up with Glenunga's incessant bitching about some God given right to them.
Of course, those juniors can qualify for both clubs for nil points but that seems to have escaped the Glenunga hierarchy

   800 Juniors. i think they will be Ok. Most non college teams use max points when in Division 1. TTG are a rare exception built from decades of consistent juniors.

They wont be top of Div 1 forever but cant imagine them going any lower the Div 2 in the next decade.

Could have said this about Goody Saints a couple of years ago, now they're missing finals in their first season of Div 2. The fall can come quick

Absolutely it can. For the record though Goodwood used 15 points last week and i don't see them going any lower than Div 2 for a long time either. Still somewhat of a mystery how that team/list has missed finals with the ex-SANFL talent on it. I'd expect them to be top 3 next year.

GG only used 9pts a couple of times this year, rest of the games has been around 4-6pts. Same deal as above with big junior numbers.

Unsure what is wrong with the BBQ... When I was there a couple weeks ago it was doing a raring trade... prices were great, food was decent and a good offering and it looked like C/B graders were working it during the A Grade.

As an observer Glenunga looks like it has improved vastly not just on the field, but off it as well.

Jimmy's not a fan 'cos Glenunga don't do paella or sell Coopers (not actually sure how any Club is allowed to do that with the League sponsorship!).

But, to be fair, up until about 3-4 weeks ago, the bbq was done by an external caterer. The quality and cost has improved dramatically since the Club took it back over.

(The $10 paella was very nice when we were there a couple of weeks ago!)
