I think we have been baging them so much they came out with some crazy shit like this to make a big statement to say yeah we are still here.

Honestly, I'm not sure how much they have thought that out, the setup and infrastructure costs would be incredible really, I agree with you about the viability of it.

However in saying that its a idea outside the box and perhaps its a good way to start thinking for Adelaide.

That maybe true for Anglicare in this case and I agree with your statements, but the Liberals, mostly the conservatives are also fairly well connected to the church as well. I think the good people of the cloth seem to have a influence regardless of the party in power.

The head of two major public hospitals in Adelaide, the Royal Adelaide and Queen Elizabeth, has been sacked.

Julia Squire had been chief executive of the Central Adelaide Local Health Network.

Late last year, the nursing union said Ms Squire had promised not to shut down a 20-bed ward, S7, at the Royal Adelaide.

It was closed this month but threats of industrial action from nurses saw it reopened by SA Health, under what it said was a flexible arrangement based on patient demand.

SA Health said its deputy chief executive Len Richards had taken over the vacated role for now, and would continue until after the opening of the new Royal Adelaide Hospital later in the year.

Ms Squire was 16 months into a five-year contract when it was terminated last night.

SA Health's chief executive Vickie Kaminski would not be drawn on whether the problems over ward S7 were a factor in the sacking.

"We really need somebody with a more collaborative, more consultative style," Ms Kaminski said.

"What we're looking at is the need to move forward and when we think about what we have to do in the next several months, year, year-and-a-half, it just is a different leadership style."

Opposition spokesman for health Stephen Wade said he did not believe SA Health's reasons for sacking Ms Squire.

"We even have evidence in parliamentary committees with clinicians who are raising concerns about transforming health, praising the collaborative way that Julia Squire engaged with clinicians," Mr Wade said.

"SA Health is notorious for spin. I believe that Julia Squire has been made a scapegoat for the Government."

Ms Kaminski would not say how much the Government had to pay to terminate Ms Squire's contract so early.

SA Health deputy chief executive Len Richards will act in the role through to the opening of the new Royal Adelaide Hospital, which is expected to be later this year.
