Re: Adel Footy League- Women's
Goodys div1 ressies have a good side finally this year. Some girl (#31) from Henley (D1R) on the weekend was a very angry girl, got sent off for 10 minutes for an off the ball hit, then constantly getting pinged for sling tackles and finally banished to the changerooms by her own coach.

Watched Broadview B Grade this week, some talented girls in that team.
Have not been to Morphie Parks in a few years, great venue now. Oval in superb condition but was surprised the cricket pitch wasn’t covered

It's a problem not having the D2R comp. TTG win that, or Seaton at a pinch, when they knew they were strong and asked to go into D3.Lightning McQueen wrote:May aswell play the Div 6 GF now.

Re: Adel Footy League- Women's
Why should a club be rewarded with being placed in one of the higher divisions, who has not put much effort historically into juniors girls & women's footy and simply went a took players from other clubs when a stack of clubs are doing the hard ground work for women's footy. That's like me going out and recruiting a stack of guns for Men's footy then ringing the league and telling them to chuck me in the top end.AdelaideSaint73 wrote:It's a problem not having the D2R comp. No offence to those involved at Seaton - and don't get me wrong great to see them get a side - but their formation to me is everything that is wrong with women's footy still... what happens when the coach and/or a couple of influential players leave?
Chuck em in D3.. they have their one or two years of fun.. disband.. then other clubs are forced to move up and fill that void.
Perhaps its time women's footy had player points like the men.

Re: Adel Footy League- Women's
There is still a large contingent at Seaton that has never played before and although they requested to start in div 3 I think it was apt that they didn't, they're probably a lower half div 3 team though.AdelaideSaint73 wrote:It's a problem not having the D2R comp. I do think that they should've been afforded the empty spot in div 5 though, Uni finding enough numbers last minute took that and would be better suited to div 6.

I agree with some of your sentiment, and yeah, player points would create more loyalty in womens footy. The Bedge wrote:Why should a club be rewarded with being placed in one of the higher divisions, who has not put much effort historically into juniors girls & women's footy and simply went a took players from other clubs when a stack of clubs are doing the hard ground work for women's footy. I've always found that women's teams prefer success over playing in higher grades, Seaton in this instance wanted to test themselves instead of taking the easy road.

This is true.. and frustratingly another point of difference between Men / Women comps (well in the lower divisions at least).Lightning McQueen wrote:I've always found that women's teams prefer success over playing in higher grades
Honestly time both comps were treated the same - women's footy have cried out for years to be seen as an equal and be treated the same.. but then on the other hand they don't want salary caps or player points or promotion / relegation, or pick the division they want to compete in.
I would like to see clubs take the women a bit more seriously or not at all - our women's team have struggled forever, and I haven't always been a fan (and sometimes now still not) but if you're going to go down that path, then do it properly and build something long term and sustainable like the Broadviews / Golden Groves of the world

Re: Adel Footy League- Women's
Ingle Farm were one of the benchmarks of womens football, you along with Greenacres had very competitive sides back in the 2000's when it was the SAWFL, Salisbury were quite strong too, I think Port Adelaide, Morphettville Park, Modbury and Central Districts (who later changed to Angle Vale) rounded out the comp. The Bedge wrote:This is true.. and frustratingly another point of difference between Men / Women comps (well in the lower divisions at least).Lightning McQueen wrote:I've always found that women's teams prefer success over playing in higher grades

Watching Golden Grove, Broadview and Goodwood smash their way up the grades has been a credit to their programs, GG had one person holding them together a few years ago and then they developed a team, now a culture.
You see far too often a coach leave a club and then totally retard that cub as an exodus follows them, happened at SMOSH when their coach started up Westminster and Blackfriars were a well drilled side that fell off the face of the earth overnight.

Isn't that what happened with this new Seaton side? Baz was coaching SMOSH, went to Seaton, took half the girls with him?Lightning McQueen wrote:You see far too often a coach leave a club and then totally retard that cub as an exodus follows them.

Re: Adel Footy League- Women's
Baz didn't get to coach anywhere last season, I think he may have been an assistant at Golden Grove. Seaton were on the lookout to start a womens team, Baz was available (and an ideal choice for a new team), obviously knew each other being the next club over and then he had the task of putting together a side. The Bedge wrote:Isn't that what happened with this new Seaton side? They were struggling for numbers big time only a few weeks out but he kept niggling away believing that they will get there.
IMO Baz got shafted at SMOSH, I'll leave it at that. I don't know how many SMOSH A Graders ended up at Seaton, he had spent years coaching junior girls at SMOSH.

Pretty sure you can only take 3 from any one club still in women's footy. Might be wrong.Lightning McQueen wrote:Baz didn't get to coach anywhere last season, I think he may have been an assistant at Golden Grove. There are quite a few women who have moved clubs, but often they are looking for a club where they will be treated well, instead of some experiment.
And there are definitely some clubs guilty of wanting women's footy, getting a new clubrooms built and then losing interest.

Anyone know the ruck rule in the Womens league?
Is one ruckwoman allowed to create body contact as the ball is in the air?
