Adelaide Footy League Division 1 - 2017
Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 1 - 2017
Hearing that Modbury may have some questions to answer regarding verbalising a female goal umpire by a group of their supporters.
Bet that drained the colour out of Jamie's face when he heard about that!!!!

I thnk this might've been some time ago and was dealt with - unless there's been another occurance, which I'd find surprising as Jamie would be right on that stuff.

Know the incident you are referring too, happened Saturday during the B's.. i saw it happen and can confirm that the comments werent directed at the goal umpire but the field umpire. Either way they were completely out of line and within about 2 minutes a match day official and our Sporting Club President had may there way over the person and addressed the matter with them.
No idea what the outcome will be but i can atleast confirm that our club acted very quickly to address the incident.. but can also confirm the abuse wasnt directed at the female goal umpire.

Sassi, I think you will find the lady goal umpire was at Hazel RD END FOR FIRST half and the action taken by JT was at half time of B Grade match from memory.

Who's Jamie?
What difference does it make if it's a female or male umpire?

Whispers that a video of the incident is doing the rounds. These things tend to have a habit of leaking their way out on to social media in one way or another before long

I hear Head Office has 'threatened' Modbury with forfeiting the right to play the next 3 home games at Modbury reserve, reinstating a suspended fine from last year, adding additional fine for this year and forfeiting the right to host home finals

So, are you saying they have been fined as a result of the incident with the female goal umpire and they are on probation and will lose home games and possibly home finals if they offend again?

I read it as on probation and suspended fine?

A letter to Modbury members states that, and I quote... "The League is considering a penalty and we are faced with the possibility of the following....." I construe that to mean that head office has threatened!

So a penalty will come out of this, but the severity of that penalty is yet to be determined?

I didn't think there were any reports last week
as it is Friday with nothing updated on the tribunal website for last week's games.

Saints by 2pts over TTG in a very hard fought contest. Goodwood 15.5 TTG 13.15. Unfortunately the game was spoilt by a number of bewildering umpiring decisions.

I think we just need to accept that these bewildering decisions are the norm now... Best to make sure you have someone record the game so that if anything too outrageous occurs as a fall out, you have video evidence to back your players up.
Uni's very solid on the weekend.. moved the ball quickly and had a fairly even spread of players. great oval to play at and that little bar in the old grandstand is one of the best places to watch footy from in the league.
