To me "Yours faithfully" and "Yours sincerely" sound forced and contrived at the best of times.

I think it all depends on the context of the email, as well as your audience.

For example, I wouldn't use a formal sign-off when emailing friends, whereas I would if I was corresponding with prospective employers.

I think "Yours Sincerely" and "Yours Faithfully" sound ridiculous.

At my first job in a financial planning firm, they told me I had to use "Kind Regards". I never got why. Our clients were from the better off parts of town though. That may have had something to do with it.

It all sounds fake and a little bit condescending. 99% of people would never use those phrases in any other part of their lives.

I say "cheers" all the time, so I use it in my emails.

Thank you for your prompt response.

Cheers

See! Sounds friendlier.

BUT!!! I draw the line at people putting smiley faces in work emails. I tend to get them from younger females. Grow up :)

Typically I start emails with "Hi" or if more formal (or I'm sticking it up* someone) I use "Good morning/afternoon...."

My electronic signature has "Regards,....." embedded in it prior to my details, but at times I will end with "Cheers" prior to that so the person can see I've been a little more personal and addressed them direct.

They are - but they are also the correct formal endings for formal and business letters.
I don't use them in any other context.

He is, but's let us not forget just how precious professional athletes are.

Poor souls, all that money to stay super fit and do what they love, travel the world, barely put their hand in their pocket for anything, ever and then on top of that they have to tolerate being "booed" from time to time. Not because the public want to "boo" them as such, but there's no chance of scaling the ivory tour to actually speak to them so "booing" from the terraces is the only way the public can voice displeasure at comments they have made during those ever so tiresome 15 minute pressers.

Oh how my heart ******* bleeds.
