Got heartbreak written all over it
The US only need it click for 5-10 minutes so we have to be prepared to grind it out

Couple of calls gone against The Boomers

Kay got tripped on his way to an open basket, no call which resulted in a tech to the bench.

Thybulle got called for an unsportsmanlike foul for a grab of the arm

Wasn't really a trip as the Aussie stood on the Yanks foot.
The Thybulle call was a straight forward one under the current rules.

And that's exactly what happened, well called Jim

15 point lead back to 3 at half time in a blink of the eye. Not good signs.

Durrant unstoppable. They are defending Patty really well, so we need Ingles and Goukding to hit threes and hope their 3 point shooting doesnt improve.

Was fun while it lasted

Those last few minutes of the 2nd half killed them and that carried over in to the 3rd

I really don’t know what people were expecting. These guys are amongst the best players in the world whilst ours a cobbled bunch of NBA journeymen and hack league players. Brave effort in the first half but when the US finally decided to play it was only ever going to be a comprehensive loss

Yes you do, the same as you were expecting. Doesn't stop people from wanting them to win

Everyone got excited when the US lost to Nigeria and us in exhibition games.

The US had disruptions with players getting COVID and late changes. Didn't take them long to gel after that.

It's now turning into a training run for them

I never expected to beat them at all. Would be great but it’s just not going to happen in my lifetime.
This would be the equivalent of a SANFL team beating a AFL team, the gulf is just that wide

Was sickening hearing Gaze and all the other media clowns saying we are a realistic chance of winning.
The hype for the Boomers today was just way over the top IMO
Hopefully they can focus on a bronze at least

But it's good for Australian basketball, and generating greater interest.

Olympics is one of the best things for Australian Basketball, always raises the profile of NBL players and young prospects.

Realistically we were always going to struggle, hyping up the match up with USA is good for the sport in Aus.

I disagree with Jim it may have been a bit of a hype but there was legitimacy to the hype. We had beaten the USA in our last two games against them, albeit exhibition games but victories none the less and France beat them in the opening game of the Olympics.

Obviously we were well beaten today thoroughly outclassed but we still have a chance to create history for our country by winning our first medal in men's basketball at an Olympics or World Cup. Winning today would've just guaranteed it.

1996 Olympics - we lost to Lithuania in the bronze medal game
2000 Olympics - again we lost to Lithuania in the bronze medal game
2016 Olympics - we lost to Spain by one point in the bronze medal game

Practice matches unfortunately.
They will destroy France in the final and this is far from their best side too
