Well they’ve brought in the big guns to make a decision. As a judge and QC surely the laws of the game must be upheld. Regardless of what rules or by-laws are put in place by a league regarding the game day penalty for having too many on the field one thing that seems to be consistent is that a player count conducted by the umpires has to take place after requested by the opposition captain. This didn’t occur so not sure how the outcome of the game can be changed. I suspect he may give recommendations as to preventing this happening again such as umpires checking with the benches that the correct number of players are off the field before the umpire starts each qtr but I can’t see him coming up with a finding that contradicts the laws of the game.

What happens if they give the win to the Eagles?
Does Wedgie have to give his money back that he won? ;)

According to ch7 the Eagles have vision showing North knowingly kept the player out there.

The rules can not be any clearer imo.
No head count no breach.

I reckon it happened in a BL&G final a couple years back involving Barossa District i reckon. There was a head count and Barossa had 19 on field. I dont remember much about it but i believe they just recieved a fine and maybe a free kick at the time. Deciding wether the score should be wiped was left up to the directors during the week. JIM05 might remember more

Was that with Roger James as coach?
Didn’t they lose the game coz of it?

A bit of talk about the opposition captain, should call for a count
So what happens if the captain is injured and in the changerooms?

One the most sensible posts on this thread.
On moral grounds the Roosters probably shouldn't be having a crack at Norwood in the GF but the facts are the rules are black & white in regards to the process involved when a team is suspected of having too many players on the field.
Take the emotion out of it and make a judgement on how the rules are written.
Winner is North Adelaide. END OF STORY.
