This is great stuff, would rather watch this all day than 10 minutes of T20

PA 3/125 [57] Tea
Run rate 2.19 runs per over

I love test cricket but this ordinary

The only time Ive been entertained was when arguably the worlds most lethal left arm bowler was bowling

man you guys just like whinging for the sake of it.

it was too many runs the other day that you were whinging about.

this is the best part of test cricket. both bowler and batsman trying to find a way to get on top. mini battles within the battle.

He Paki's really knuckled down. Great knock by Khan and the game is now very even. Looks like there isnt much life in the deck which was to be expected so I believe the 2nd day will be the best batting day.

If you like seeing teams make 219 runs in a day on a flat deck goodonya
Had they made this total on day 1 at the Gabba on a seeming deck its acceptable
Had they made this total against an attack of Mcrgath, Lee, Gillesepie, Warne , perhaps 4/219 gets a pass mark of sorts
To score 219 in a day against a team that had 2 debutant bowlers on a non threatening pitch is mediocre at best

Agree, Aussies bowled well on a flat deck, pakis were patient, opening session day 2 will have a huge impact on this game

This sums up the pitch
Peter Siddle bowling
6th ball with the 2nd new ball
Digs one in at Misbah
Misbah takes evasive action and ducks
The ball hits MIsbah in the rib/back area
Siddle half heartedly appeals for LBW

Looks like this pitch might be a turner as the match progresses
Might need Nathan Lyon to turn this game in the PA 2nd dig

Whats with the paki attack? Less than 10 games between the 4 of them.

I reckon their test team would boast the lowest average "career span" for test players over the last 20 years. always inexperienced, always churning through players (other than a few) and its been that way since they mid 90's when they had Sohail, Ijaz, Inziman, Me and Dad, Anwar, Moin Khan etc

doesn't help when all of their best bowlers in the past 5 years have either been banned for chucking, or banned for match fixing

MALnifenct post Mal, 219 on the first day on that pitch is ordinary. At no stage did they look to get on top of the bowling IMO.

219 is low but they won the toss and batted first and were two down for bugger all. The Aussies bowled pretty tightly and seemed to have good plans for the middle order which assisted in keeping the scoring rate low. When the wicket is dead on the first day it is not the cricketers who are to blame if the spectacle isn't there.

That commentator who was bagging 'the support bowlers' was absolutely full of shit. Mitch Marsh bowled pretty well and while he had a point about O'Keefee not getting much turn, to dismiss him as 'a roller' because he couldn't get any turn on a first day wicket is ridiculous. He also said that their number three had 'seen off' Mitchell Johnson, four balls later...he was back in the shed. Nice one geniearse.

REB

Very similar to the first day of the Port Elizabeth test. Deadish pitch, two very early wickets, then a slow grind for the rest of the day to just over 200. Saffers may even have been 5-for
And that game finished in 4 days.

With the ball rotation O'Keefe had he would struggle to spin the ball on a day 5 last session Kolkata wicket!!!
