AFL having a crack at clubs for not drafting enough indigenous boys.
These clowns are cooked!
Dillon could be the shortest serving CEO in AFL history if this craziness continues.

Hopefully he's not suggesting selecting more indigenous lads over talent, if they are good enough they will be drafted, pretty simple

I think he'd be concerned that there's been more delistings than draftees whilst the Hawthorn racism saga and a change to how funds are spent at some clubs in the same period.locky801 wrote:perhaps he should have a closer look at teams liststigerpie wrote:AFL having a crack at clubs for not drafting enough indigenous boys.

Especially if the opposite is happening in other sports, competitions and businesses.
Any responsible CEO would be and it would be neglect to not investigate.

Jason Dunstall has been elevated to legend status in the AFL Hall of Fame.
To this day the greatest full forward I’ve ever seen play.

Re: AFL 2024
Lockett, Dunstall, Ablett Snr, all from an era when stay at home full forwards were the norm, they did however have to earn their kicks unlike the modern players.Spargo wrote:Jason Dunstall has been elevated to legend status in the AFL Hall of Fame.

For the era he played in Franklin I think is the best FF I have seen. To kick 1000 goals this century the way the game is played is nothing short of phenomenal.
Dunstall however was, with Hodges, my childhood hero. Still have the Oz Child guernsey with the #19 on it.

Re: AFL 2024
God played further up the ground throughout most of the 80's, wasn't a true FF until the 90's. Places him above the other two if you take that into account, I reckon if he solely played FF he would have smashed Plugger's record.Booney wrote:Lockett, Dunstall, Ablett Snr, all from an era when stay at home full forwards were the norm, they did however have to earn their kicks unlike the modern players.Spargo wrote:Jason Dunstall has been elevated to legend status in the AFL Hall of Fame.

Re: AFL 2024
Agree Franklins efforts are remarkable. Especially given how much better he was as a full forward than any other in his era. Compare that to Dunstall/Lockett/Ablett Snr your splitting hairs with all of them. No splitting hairs with anyone else but Franklin in his era.Booney wrote:Lockett, Dunstall, Ablett Snr, all from an era when stay at home full forwards were the norm, they did however have to earn their kicks unlike the modern players.Spargo wrote:Jason Dunstall has been elevated to legend status in the AFL Hall of Fame.

What i find remarkable is how small Lockett, Dunstall and Ablett are compared to modern day forwards.
Curnow 194cm
Franklin 198cm
J.Cameron 196cm
Lockett 191cm
Dunstall 188cm
Ablett 185cm

Interesting though as well and not saying it means a whole lot but the physique on the modern day player is generally much much better, i guess that compares with it being a full time profession.
Even Cripps at 195cm, Bontempelli 193cm, Fyfe 192cm is just incredible. Harley Reid is the same height as Dunstall and with a few more pre seasons will end up heavier

Re: AFL 2024
Well kids are in the gym from a young age these days - strength programs start early, and given it's a career at pro level they train every day.. not a tradie who plays footy on the weekend, it's not really surprising.whufc wrote:Interesting though as well and not saying it means a whole lot but the physique on the modern day player is generally much much better, i guess that compares with it being a full time profession.

Even the tradies who run around on a weekend are way bigger than when I played. I used to pinch hit in the ruck, I'm not even KPP sized by ammo standards these days! The Bedge wrote:Well kids are in the gym from a young age these days - strength programs start early, and given it's a career at pro level they train every day.. not a tradie who plays footy on the weekend, it's not really surprising.whufc wrote:Interesting though as well and not saying it means a whole lot but the physique on the modern day player is generally much much better, i guess that compares with it being a full time profession.

Re: AFL 2024
I think what impresses me the most about lockett. Is that he kicked majority of his goals for a very average side. Kicking massive bags for the saints was impressivewhufc wrote:Agree Franklins efforts are remarkable. Especially given how much better he was as a full forward than any other in his era. Two winning seasons at Sydney and St Kilda ( more wins than losses ).woodublieve12 wrote: I think what impresses me the most about lockett. Is that he kicked majority of his goals for a very average side. Kicking massive bags for the saints was impressive
His two biggest hauls ( 127 in 1991 11/6 and 132 in 1992 14/8 ) for St Kilda.
