Prescribed penalties are offered to players who have been reported during the game but their offence is at the very low end of the scale.
You can be offered one or two and then do not have to attend the tribunal.

The League may nominate certain Category “A” reportable offences as prescribed offences where the player may plead guilty without appearing before the Tribunal and accept the prescribed penalty if this is offered to the player by the reporting field umpire. A player may plead guilty and accept a prescribed penalty only once during the season. The prescribed offences and penalties are as follows:

Using abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene language, or an obscene gesture to any person other than an officiating umpire - 1 match.
Engaging in time wasting - 1 match.
Throwing or pushing another player after that player has taken a mark, disposed of the football or after otherwise out of play - 1 match.
Engaging in rough play against an opponent which in the circumstances is unreasonable - 2 matches.
Engaging in a melee, except where a player’s sole intention is to remove a team mate from the incident - 1 match.
Attempting to strike another player - 2 matches.
Attempting to trip another player by hand or arm - 1 match.
Intentionally shaking a goal or behind post when another player is preparing to kick
or is kicking for goal or after the player has kicked for goal and the ball is in transit - 1 match.
Wrestling another player - 1 match.
Failing to leave the playing field when directed to do so by a field umpire - 1 match.
Wearing boots, jewellery and equipment prohibited under Clause 32 of the Rules and Regulations of The League - 1 match.
Any act of misconduct - 1 match.

Yeah, sorry i understand how the prescribed penalty works, I just don't get how that is any different to a standard suspension when it comes to club imposed penalties.

Amended agreements apparently specify that the player must be found guilty by tribunal or investigation.

Prescribed penalties are generally for innocuous incidents.

Not at all, just a unique circumstance and genuinly didnt know the rules.
Them being around in Sept is a good thing! The best teams should be playing at the pointy end!

Hardly surprising is it, given they lost 8 players from last year's premiership team. Hard to replace that many.

Most D1 Clubs seemed to lose 5-10 of their best over the last off-season (generally to year off/retirement as opposed to $$$).

In any event it's probably for the best, Goodies were running out of space for those flags.

Heard a rumour that some of the Saints lads were recorded being up to no good down at their sponsors business recently. Not the sort of thing that you usually here out of this club.

That may give you some joy, but they will at least have the opportunity to have another crack at Div 1 next year. In what was a really hard slog in boggy conditions, Saints battled very hard on Saturday against TTG. Hit the front half way through the last quarter, but couldn't hold on.

Interesting final round. ROCS likely to knock off Henley, so PNU gotta win/draw at Salisbury North to hold onto double chance.
