Also like to see the list where it says the quality of outs too...
Swans have had probably three quality outs...

Malceski - swans didn’t want to pay the amount he wanted
Mummy - forced out in the buddy deal
Mitchell - he wanted out.

got no issue with players his age wanting to do this

I'm surprised Geelong are keen on him to be honest. They're still thinking this senior group has one more flag in them.

two losing prelims. why not have a crack at it. as freo, west coast, st kilda and even hawthorn have found out, the premiership window can slam shut very quickly. may as well have one last crack at it

Mackie and Lonergan closed it on their way out.

Finished 2nd both years so no denying the quality of the group, but bundled out both years in the prelims by sides who lost the GF means they're close but not quite up to the top couple. ( Might have been lucky in '16, beat the Hawks in the 1st final by 2 points IIRC ).

I don't see Ablett making up for the loss of Mackie and Lonergan and Taylor going 32 and a banged up Selwood 30.

And they looked VERY slow in the last final, which I expected them to win. Not sure how a guy that's 33/34 and had issues with shoulders and soft tissue is going to improve their list. AND they'll have to give something considerable up to get him.

Motlop is already just about gone and they'll lose another to the GC.

Plus, will Ablett play all 22 games? Will he do a Wells and be expected to play 15? I'll have money on them not making finals next year.

Ablett is still a gun and if it doesn't cost the Cats too much they should trade for him. Nobody will be able to go with GAJ in the forward line, it is in his blood to kick goals.

I may be wrong, but I don't think he's going to wind the clock back 4 years and kick 24 goals in 3/4 of a season. Wouldn't be the first time I'd be wrong of course!

He has only kicked 40 goals or more once, in 2010.

Maybe. But now he's going to be a 60 goal forward? I can't see it.

Maybe, probably not. I'm just an old style footballer where in years gone by he would be the perfect flanker. Bulldogs and Richmond have taught me in the last few years I don't know shit :D

I think people are confusing players that want to leave and players that are given the arse. Yes, us Geelong fans are distraught we couldnt hang onto players like Dean Gore and Taylor Hunt who are included in those stats not to mention players like james Kelly and Stevie j who Geelong chose to move on.

He hasn't spent a year in a forward pocket or full forward before either. If he plays he will kick arse.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Our window is shut because Lonergan and Mackie quit? Seriously? Both players had their moments last year but both were pretty obviously cooked. I expect a bit more run from Geelong's defence going forward. With Matty Scarlett on board we will be well served in the backline and the development of players. As for a 'banged up' Selwood...are you implying that Selwood is finished as well? Long bow there mate, I'm fairly sure he'll be in better shape come March than he was this September. Ablett replaces Motlop, a fair win there. Buzza comes into the forward line a bit more next season for mine and Harry goes down back oh yeah he's finished as well. 8)

We will contend again next year. Window open, cool breeze on Gazza's bald head. ;)

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but Essendon have signed Adelaide CC quick Luke Lavender as a Cat B rookie.

202cm athletic kid, be interesting to see how he goes.

Not sure Adelaide can claim him as he committed to the Bombers 12 months ago and didn't play cricket last year at all...
