Thank god the footy is back this weekend and we can talk about wins and losses etc.

My thoughts for the weekends games..........

Nth Haven v Kenilworth: Think Havens will be geared up and ready to go for this one after a disappointing finals campaign last year. Kenilworth haven't added enough quality players to seriously contend with what I think will be on of the divisions powerhouse teams. Havens by 42.

Pooraka v Hope Valley: Both teams been quiet in the off season and this one is a big old guess for me but I'm gonna say Hope Valley to get up by 11.

CLG v Towns: Triple header at the den this weekend and I can't wait. As a club we were a bit down after a GF loss obviously but some fresh blood into the group at the start of pre season had everyone excited about the clubs first shot at division 4 in 20 years. In front of our home crowd we do not like to disappoint and I think we'll start the season off with a close 8 point win.

Salisbury v WOS: This could be a preview of this years GF with last years bridesmaid in Salisbury taking on the pre season flag favourite dragons. Can WOS get their bevy of new recruits to gel quickly and start their campaign off with a tough road win? I say yes, Westies by 32 points.

Para Hills v Eastern Park: Probably the most talked about club in the off season for all the wrong reasons Para Hills will attempt to find a way to stop an eastern park side favoured to make finals this year. We will know after this one if it's all as bad as we thought at PH. I'm saying Eastern Park by 72 points.

Game of the round has to be SFC and WOS. Really excited to see how R1 plays out. All welcome at Mortlock Park this week for the triple header starting at 10:15 :P

That's very bloody disappointing, particularly from a club who made a Grand Final last year and who most would regard as being more stable than the Club's who have been in similar positions in the last few years but have still managed to field one side.

The decision should have been done ages ago from the club, not 2 days before season start.

Rubbish the club should be given every opportunity to get it sorted and its a shame and gut wrenching for some families that love the joint that's it's no longer. Some things are more important than programming.

Pretty ordinary at committee level by the sounds of it.
Last years coach gets told he keeps his job if they go top meanwhile The new guy that ended up being appointed (Cabbage) and his replacement was told the jobs his before the finals even start!! Then cue exodus.

What could the League have done realistically?

If the Club tells them they're going to be fine, but pulls the pin what can they do?

While i agree that the committee may have made some mistakes, i still believe the players have a lot to answer for. I believe you play for a club and if that is your club and you dont agree with who they appoint as coach for a year big deal, you suck it up and play.
Players to walk because they dont like a coach is weak IMO.
How is the premiership reunion going to look in 10 years ( if there is a club ) when blokes sit around and have a beer there and think, yeah it was a good flag but remember when we pissed off the following year and the club couldn't field a team and had to close. Pretty week IMO

Why should a player have to hang around just because "it's their club"? If you get a new boss at work You don't think fits, you find another job. If they cut your pay, you find another job. Last time I checked most people play footy because they enjoy it, in turn if they don't enjoy it because of environmental factors, change the environment.

I guess we dont agree and thats fine, i played over 200 games at a club who went thru seasons not winning a game and changing coaches nearly every year. Not one person left the club and we had a great time as it was our club.
I just think when you play at a club for a long period of time you have some respect for the people around the club busting the arse to put the players on the park each week.
Yes they may have made a mistake or two, but to throw the toys out of the bath and walk because you dont agree doesn't sit well with me.

If the missus decided to take a vowel of celibacy, would you hang around? Everyone put in effort into the relationship......
I'm just saying that players and clubs keep each other happy and functioning.
Losing games of footy doesn't make a club any less enjoyable. Changing coaches doesn't make footy less enjoyable. Putting the wrong people in head positions makes footy less enjoyable

No humpy pumpy with the missus makes the relationship less enjoyable

The league should have asked for registered players like they did with kilburn alarms bells were ringing for a while about para hills, stop being reactive and proactive towards sitautions!

They offered Para Hills the chance to go down many many times. Para Hills did not take the chance.

The "League" if you're referring to the Executive of the League does not have the powers to re-grade on a whim. That lies with the clubs at General Committee.

Terrible outcome for the league, div 4 teams but most of all Para Hills.. even if they only had 15-20 players left willing to have a crack, that's 15-20 blokes that would be feeling very ordinary right about now, not to mention the supporters and officials..

I may be wrong (regularly am) but didn't Smithfield miss a season and then reform a year after or similar? look at them now.. they should be used as a blue print for Para Hills to rebuild.
