I reckon the SANFL will not carry on with game anymore post 2016.
It probably cost them money to open the gates this year.
To me the only smart way to make a profit on the game is to go with a couple of rivals to build a tradition.
I don't think the SANFL would be wise enough to have a go at it because of club bickering.
Hence,to me no more ANZAC games at Adelaide Oval.
Let us see what happens in 2017,
I may be wrong of course.

Westies are having an abnormally bad year. Look over the record books, there's perhaps two sides in the history of SANFL that have as bad a record following a flag. You can't use this one year as proof of a need to adopt the AFL system.

I like the idea of the previous years Grand Finalists playing on Anzac day however I wouldn't be oppossed to it becoming a blockbuster game between 2 set clubs if it would guarantee more supporters going. The more people at the Anzac Day game the better for the league as a whole.
Look at the South v Glenelg Good Friday Blockbuster this is starting to develop a tradition and I think will continue to grow.

It does appear that advertising of the league seems way down on previous years which I think is a bad move. If anything the SANFL needs to promote the local teams more than ever with the AFL reserves now in the league.

I find it interesting that fans of clubs who haven't made the grand final in some cases since the 1960sor 50s
Can post in a topic re the grand final rematch
And I'm told an online journalist was tweeting this very subject
How come year after year Eagles v Central replay these fans of clubs who weren't good enough to make the GF didn't start complaining back then .
Guess if your sides make a GF like west and the Eagles did we will see them in the replay
If they can't make it why post this rubbish

There is no such thing as a blockbuster in the SANFL. It was only ever Port and Norwood and that doesn't exist any more.

Keep tradition and integrity at least for one day of the year and give the previous year's Grand Finalists the honour of playing on ANZAC Day at Adelaide Oval and for the associated medals.

I'm not against the full round being played on ANZAC Day at the other venues. Every amateur and country club seems to do it.

Biggest crowds at Adelaide Oval/ Football Park/ Alberton/ Unley for grand finals and minor round matches have all been games involving Sturt and Port.
Define blockbuster Aerie.

Just to be clear MickyJ, this is a topic about the ANZAC day clash. Most of our discussion is about the structure of the concept. I think we're entitled to an opinion on it seeing that it's the only game played on a day where all Australians will remember.
No one is stopping you from talking about the Eagles or West.

Blockbuster is a manufactured term used by the AFL to make games involving Richmond, Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon seem relevant in the 21st century.

Exactly.

Actually promoting the game might help too...

I was thinking Norwood and Sturt would be the only SANFL teams that could potentially fill Adelaide Oval again one day. But I see them as a little too friendly towards each other to be counted as a blockbuster. Maybe that is just because of sturtpeter though.

TBH

ANZAC Day games should be left to the big four clubs to get a decent crowd: Port, Glenelg, Norwood and Sturt.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
