I think Gavin Colville and Leigh Treeby came straight out of the TAC Cup competition to the Eagles, but that was sometime ago.

Re: INS and OUTS for 2018
Will Abbott (Norwood signing) is either an ex Sturt or Norwood player (memory fading!) who I thought may have played a league game or two but his name is not on the list in the history forum. Perhaps he played reserves.

Port Adelaide Magpies skipper Steven Summerton re-signs following SANFL rule change that allows him to play every game

STEVEN Summerton will be eligible to play in every Port Adelaide league game next year after a SANFL rule change.
The Magpies captain was forced to play five reserves games this past season because of a SANFL rule stipulating that available Power players had to be selected ahead of those with league contracts.
But as of 2018, the 29-year-old midfielder, who has re-signed with Port today, will be able to feature in every league game regardless of the number of AFL-listed players available.
The SANFL announced today that it had changed its rule and both the Port and Crows reserves teams would be able to field one marquee contracted player – such as Summerton – in every match.
SANFL football general manger Adam Kelly said the original rule was introduced in the first year of fielding AFL reserves teams in the state league in 2014 to uphold the integrity of the competition.
Kelly said the former stipulation had not contemplated that all 21 AFL-listed players would be available, resulting in no top-up players lining up in a league match.
“The provisions of the licence agreement … were included to ensure that the teams of each (AFL) club were playing the line and wanting to win,” Kelly said.
“Both clubs have honoured this principle and demonstrated through their players a commitment to the contest and respect for the competition.
“Ultimately, the SANFL has agreed with Port Adelaide that it is appropriate that the marquee player be able to be selected before an AFL-listed player on the occasion that 21 are available for SANFL selection.”

With 46 on the list they didn't add up that 22+21 = 43??? and this scenario was a possibility???

So in a perfect world if the crows have a marquee and no injuries some of their AFL players may not get a game at all.

The rules have been changed before (Luke Reynolds at least one instance) .. No one bothers fighting it when 6 clubs are spineless and the other 2 get disregarded. As Dutchy said, policy on the run, run by false custodians that hopefully history shows to be a gutless, selfish, bunch of self serving pigs.

All this hurley-Burley's making my hair go curly and twirly, surely someone should get in early and bring back Craig Turley.

Port has also contracted some other players including a WWT player and a Centrals player plus some interstate academy players. The rule are very flexible at the best. The benefits of no salary cap for the PAM.
