Granted I was at the pub and didn’t scrutinize, but I thought DBJ was alright tonight?

So many ordinary players in a team that finished top 4. So many.

Saying he's not very good just means you haven't watched enough of Port play this year which is fair enough if you're not a Port fan. He, like Ratugolea, looked out of sorts when there were three talls in defence and it's no coincidence Port's fortunes particularly defensively improved when it went to Aliir and BZK back there. Zerk-Thatcher proved his worth.

He does his job most weeks with a minimum of fuss but he still has days where he just looks like a space cadet out there but that’s what you will get with him. Thought he had a pretty solid season

Ratugolea, i feel is being unfairly criticised regarding the prelim. The bloke had no chance. Up against not only multiple swans defenders but he was also competing with his own players. Would have been a horrible night to be a forward for port with the delivery they had.

He dropped a sitter and falconed himself on another occasion
Esava was terrible and arguably the worse forward on the night

Poor movement from the back half, midfield under pressure, forward entries back to our long bomb plan and Ratugolea and Dixon competing with 4 Sydney defenders every time in came back down to earth. Neither of them stood a chance.

Not right to blame outs, but is anyone actually surprised by that?

Farrell, Houston massive outs in terms of ball use and movement - both can break lines by foot and with precision. Marshall I struggle with each year, but he's a good connect higher up the ground - moves well, leads up, uses the ball well.

McKenzie, SPP, Finlyason also others who if weren't injured would've been in the mix.

I actually would've gambled with Burton as the key forward replacing Marshall. and left Burgoyne at half back.

Don't mind that Lorenz either just quietly, and i'm still scratching my head over Evans being the sub - am I the only one who thinks he's bloody handy? Surely ahead of Narkle?

Your Burton call was the same as mine.
Leave Burgoyne at half back delivering it and Burton complimented Gorgiadis as lead up forward with pace.
I actually felt sorry for Charlie, he struggled to get up off the ground.
Port would be hoping Houston stays and chase forwards at the trade table.

You can't use outs as an excuse, you can however add them into the reasons why you played as you played. Houston, Farrell, Finlayson and Powell-Pepper are all in our best 22.

What we saw two weeks ago against Geelong and again against Sydney was a young back line over awed. Logan Evans, Burgoyne ( ok Friday night ), Sinn, Bergman and Jones ( the last two are 22 and the oldest of the 5 mentioned ) were run ragged by an elite midfield that had control of our midfield all night. The way the ball was coming in they stood no chance, the way they then used it either under pressure or perceived pressure made it impossible for the midfield and that's the game in a nutshell. While our forwards and forward entry was garbage they were a result of the back half and midfield being under the pump.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

We don't need them, we need the ones on the list fit.

Georgiades, Lord and Finlayson are a much better mix than what we saw in Friday night. Marshall in some doubt with his head knocks and a young Scully ( not coming along as I'd have liked ) in the SANFL. Scully may get cut to make room for another forward, Lukosius may be the one. Add Powell-Pepper back in and Narkle / Evans are out and it's a vastly improved front half.

If Narkle, Evans and Marshall are in the SANFL we've then got some back ups.

Georgiades is your only working genuine forward.
You have to replace Dixon and probably Marshall so you'll be chasing a forward.
Your mids and backs look ok if ZT keeps improving, and you keep Houston.
